WACO, Texas - Baylor's seventh-ranked women's tennis team dominated No. 29 SMU in both singles and doubles on its way to a 4-0 victory over No. 29 SMU on Thursday evening at the Baylor Tennis Center.

One day after the match was originally scheduled, but moved due to rain, the Lady Bears took victories at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, as well as No. 1, No. 2 and No. 6 singles to claim a quick victory. The teams played to four in the nonconference match, leaving each of the other positions in singles and doubles unfinished.

"SMU has a great team with tons of talent," head coach Joey Scrivano said. "They are a team that you can't take lightly. We had to play at a very high level to beat them, and I'm proud of the way we competed as a unit. We should gain some more confidence from this win."

Baylor's top guns in singles, fifth-ranked Lenka Broosova and 18th-ranked Nina Secerbegovic, continued their impressive win streaks with straight-sets victories. Broosova won her fifth consecutive singles match with a 6-2, 6-1 win over No. 29 Marta Lesniak, while Secerbegovic won her 16th straight with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Katerina Vankova.

Karolina Filipiak claimed the victory in the sixth position for Baylor with a 6-3, 6-2 win for her third straight victory.

In doubles, Filipiak and Taylor Ormond disposed of Shahazoda Hatamova and Pavi Francis with an 8-2 win in the third position, and Secerbegovic and Jelena Stanivuk won 8-6 in the second position over Vankova and Edyta Cieplucha.

The Lady Bears will be back on the road in their next match with a trip to the University of Texas. The Big 12 battle will feature two of the conference's four undefeated teams with Baylor at 4-0 and the Longhorns, ranked No. 35, at 2-0. The first serve is scheduled for noon.
