TRINITY, Texas - The Baylor Bears concluded the 2010 Big 12 Men's Golf Championship in sixth place Sunday with a final tally of 19-over (288-287-301-295=1171) at Whispering Pines Golf Club.

No. 3 Oklahoma State its fourth consecutive Big 12 title, shooting a final round 282 to finish 19-under for the weekend. Texas A&M finished second at 6-under (280-285-292-289=1146), followed by Texas in third at 4-under and Texas Tech in fourth at even-par.

Texas Tech's Chris Ward withstood a final-round push by Oklahoma State's Peter Uihlein to win the conference individual title with a 9-under 279. Uihlein finished two strokes back in second at 7-under.

"No one really ever got anything going today," Baylor head men's golf coach Greg Priest said. "Every time we did something positive, we'd have a double-bogey or a three-putt that ended up being round-killers for us."

Baylor's Ryan O'Rear, Joakim Mikkelsen and Payne Gniewek all carded final-round 73s for the Bears. O'Rear and Lorenzo Scotto both tied for 12th place at 1-over. O'Rear carded his second consecutive 73 to post his career-best finish. Scotto finished in the top-15 for the third time this season and the top-25 for the sixth time.

"We couldn't get any consistency," Priest said. "I am definitely disappointed in the way we finished, but hopefully we are moving in the right direction."

Mikkelsen, who began the Big 12 Championship with an opening-round 70 Friday, finished 27th overall at 8-over (70-76-77-73=296). Gniewek and freshman Jerry Ruiz both tied for 40th at 14-over.

"Lorenzo (Scotto) played great the first two rounds and he's had three solid performances, which gives me some momentum heading into Regionals," Priest said. "Ryan (O'Rear) played well and we finally got some production from the bottom of the lineup, which we need to have continue in the NCAA Regionals."

Baylor, which has made 12 consecutive NCAA Regional appearances, will now await its NCAA postseason fate. The Division I Men's Golf Selection announcement will be made Monday, May 10, at 5 p.m. The 2010 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships will begin May 20-22 at six regional host sites.
