Baylor Athletics Experience
• Softball Media Almanac

Courtney Repka allowed only one unearned run, but the Baylor offense was unable to muster one of its own, as the Lady Bears (21-11, 2-3) fell to Texas Tech (30-6, 2-2) 1-0 at Getterman Stadium Monday evening.

"Courtney Repka deserved a win today," head coach Glenn Moore said. "We didn't help her much offensively or defensively, and that is something we will get corrected."

Repka (14-7) went the distance, striking out three, allowing four hits and walking two, giving up the one unearned run.

The Lady Bears managed five hits to the Red Raiders four, led by Courtney Nieten's 2-for-3 performance.

Ashley Brokeshoulder (7-3) picked up the win, allowing five hits with no walks and three strikeouts.

Texas Tech scored the game's lone run in the top of the first, as Stephanie Drewry got on via an error at third with one out. Following a hit by pitch, Mikey Kenney laced an RBI-single to left field to score Drewry for the 1-0 lead.

Baylor got a runner in scoring position in the third, as Kayce Walker send a two-out single to left field and advanced to second on a single by Nieten, however, Jordan Vannatta popped out to third to end the threat.

The Red Raiders led off the fourth with a double by Logan Hall, who was sacrificed to third, but that was as far as she would get, as Repka got a groundout and strikeout to end the inning.

Repka got out of another jam in the sixth, getting three-straight outs to strand runners at first and second, giving the Lady Bears a chance to tie or take the lead.

Megan Turk came in to pinch hit in the seventh with one out and singled to third. Kathy Shelton reentered and stole second with two outs to reach scoring position, however, a line drive by Dani Leal was snagged on a leaping grab by the shortstop to end the game.

Baylor will continue its nine-game homestand on Wednesday, taking on North Texas in a doubleheader beginning at 4:00 p.m.
