AUSTIN, Texas - Baylor's top-ranked women's tennis team advanced to the Big 12 Championship title match with its 4-0 semifinal win over Texas A&M on Saturday afternoon at the Penick-Alllison Tennis Center.

Top-seeded Baylor will be seeking its fifth straight Big 12 Championship title and will be playing the University of Texas in the title match for the fifth straight year as well. The Longhorns, the tournament's No. 2 seed, advanced to the title match with a 4-0 blanking of third-seeded Nebraska. Baylor and Texas will play for the league title at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

"Texas is always a great match, we are excited. They are playing really well right now. Texas is probably one of the hottest teams in the country right now, so they are going to give us a good match and we are going to have to be ready," said head coach Joey Scrivano.

Baylor raised its record to 26-2 and extended its win streak to 20 matches while the Aggies fell to 14-9. Texas enters Sunday's matchup with a 17-4 record. Baylor posted a 5-2 win over the Longhorns in Austin on March 28, handing Texas its lone conference loss.

Against the Aggies, Baylor produced doubles wins at the two top courts to secure the doubles point for the Lady Bears. Jelena Stanivuk and Nina Secerbegovic raised their record to 12-0 when they were the first duo off the court with their 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles over Morgan Frank and Stephanie Davidson. Baylor's 11th-ranked doubles team of Lenka Broosova and Csilla Borsanyi claimed a win at No. 1 doubles with an 8-4 triumph over 35th-ranked Elze Potgieter and Nazari Urbina.

The Lady Bears sprinted past the Aggies in singles, winning the three necessary matches in straight sets. First off the court for Baylor was Secerbegovic when she produced a 6-0, 6-2 win over Potgieter at court two. Secerbegovic raised her singles record at the No. 2 spot to 20-2. Stanivuk returned to the lineup against the Aggies and earned BU a point at No. 5 by downing Christi Liles, 6-3, 6-3. Clinching the match for the Lady Bears was Borsanyi with a 7-5, 6-0 win over Sheri Olivier at No. 5 singles.

"Nina (Secerbegovic )is amazing. She has another gear that most players don't have and today she put it in fifth gear and that was awesome ,that was a big boost for us. Jelena (Stanivuk ) begged me to play and you can only say no to her so much. It was good, she needed some practice that way she will be ready to play tomorrow," said Scrivano.
