The Baylor soccer team (2-0-0) will look to continue its undefeated ways as it hosts Houston Baptist (1-0-0) on Friday at 7:00 p.m. at Betty Lou Mays Field. The Bears will then hit the road for its first game away from home, taking on Arizona State (1-0-0) on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. in Tempe, Ariz.
"Last weekend was a good start but this is a new week," head coach Marci Jobson said. "We have to continue to get better, and I am excited to take this group out on the road for the first time."
The Bears are coming off a pair of victories that have BU off to its best start since 2007. Baylor opened its season with a 1-0 win over Rice on Aug. 20 and followed it up with a 7-0 stomping of McNeese State on Aug. 22.
Sophomore Hanna Gilmore leads the Big 12 Conference with five points, after scoring two goals and adding an assist against McNeese State. For her efforts, Gilmore was named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week for the second time in her career.
Houston Baptist enters after opening with a 1-0 win over Sam Houston State on Aug. 20. Baylor leads the all-time series, 1-0 after a 6-0 win on Oct. 23, 2009.
Arizona State will host the Bears on Sunday after a 4-3, season-opening win over Northern Arizona in which the Sun Devils scored the game-winner with 1:06 to play. ASU leads the all-time series, 3-0 after defeating BU, 1-0 in Waco on Sept. 12, 2008.
Friday will be Family Fun Night, as fans can purchase four tickets, four hot dogs and four drinks for $20.
