WACO, Texas - Lisa Sliwinski recorded a hat trick to help lead Baylor (3-0-0) to a 6-0 win over Houston Baptist (1-1-0) Friday night at Betty Lou Mays Field. The win marks the first 3-0 start for the Bears since 2003 and the third-straight shutout.

"I really like that we are getting goals from different players," head coach Marci Jobson said. "Tonight was another step in the right direction but we have a tough opponent coming up Sunday."

Sliwinski's three-goal game was the first for a BU player since Megan Sherrell did so on Oct. 19, 2007 at Nebraska. Hanna Gilmore added a pair of goals on the evening, while Brittany Hunemuller recorded a two assists.

Baylor got the first and only goal it would need in the fifth minute, when Gilmore took a pass from Dana Larsen and beat the keeper to the far post for the 1-0 lead.

Lotto Smith netted her first goal of the season just three minutes later, as a flick-on header from Lindsey Johnson found Smith's feet and she stuck it in the back of the net for a 2-0 advantage.

The Bears outshot the Huskies 9-2 in the first half and took a two-goal lead into the break.

Sliwinski knocked in her first just three minutes into the second half, as Hannah Dismuke played a perfect cross into the center of the box that allowed Sliwinski to one-touch it into the net for a 3-0 lead.

Gilmore struck again in the 54th minute, as a 35-yard cross from Hunemuller found her head and she buried it to make the game 4-0.

Sliwinski made it 5-0 off an assist from Carlie Davis, as she slotted the ball past the goalie with her left foot.

Her hat trick was complete in the 64th minute when her initial shot bounced off the post and back to her feet for an easy put back and a 6-0 cushion for the Bears.

Baylor, who had 28 players see action on the evening, dominated the shot category, 25-2 as the defense didn't allow a shot in the second half.

The Bears will hit the road for the first time this season, traveling to Arizona State (1-0-0) for a 3:00 p.m. CT game in Tempe, Ariz.
