WACO, Texas - Leading 1-0 at halftime, the Baylor (7-1-1) offense caught fire, scoring eight goals in the second half to dominate Prairie View A&M (1-8-1) 9-0 on Sunday afternoon at Betty Lou Mays Field. The win marks the first time the Bears have won seven of their first nine games since the 1999 squad went 7-2 through the first nine contests.

"I am very proud of the way we responded in the second half," head coach Marci Jobson said. "We got a lot of kids some playing time today, and now we have to really focus on the second part of our season, the Big 12 Conference."

Baylor tied the program record for shots in a game after peppering the Panthers' goal with 40 on the afternoon. The previous mark was set against Kansas on Sept. 14, 1997.

The Bears picked up their eighth shutout of the season and are outscoring their opponents 31-3 thus far.

Dana Larsen notched a career high with two goals, while Lotto Smith added a career high of her own with six points after collecting two goals and two assists.

Baylor finally got on the board in the 42nd minute when a corner kick was flicked on by Alex Klein and headed in by Selby Polley for her second goal of the season.

Despite a 14-0 shot advantage, BU took just a 1-0 lead into halftime.

The Bears came out blazing in the second half, as Smith accounted for the next two goals, both off assists from Hanna Gilmore, that gave Baylor a 3-0 lead.

Sixteen second after Smith's goal, Dana Larsen found the back of the net off an assist from Smith to make it 4-0.

Smith polished off her second assist on the very next goal, again assisting Larsen in the 57th minute for the 5-0 advantage.

Lisa Sliwinski registered her team-leading sixth goal of the year, heading in a corner kick from Hannah Dismuke in the 69th minute for the 6-0 lead.

Sophomore Andrea Mauk got her first career goal in the 88th minute when she cut to the middle of the field and blasted a left-footed shot from 20 yards out for the seventh goal.

Baylor added number eight, as Vic Hoffman notched her first career goal in the 89th minute, dribbling past defenders and beating the keeper from eight yards out.

The Bears' added their final goal in the 90th minute when a punt from Michelle Kloss found Karlee Summey's feet, and she slipped it past the goalie to make it 9-0.

Baylor will open conference play on the road at Oklahoma State on Friday, Sept. 24 with kickoff beginning at 7:00 p.m.
