PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif.- Baylor's women's tennis team finished play at the ITA/Riviera All-American Women's Championship on Friday in Pacific Palisades, Calif.

A day after defeating the highest-ranked player of her career in three sets, 13th-ranked senior Sona Novakova fell in three sets to Alabama's Mary Anne MacFarlane in the Round of 16. Novakova took the first set 6-4 over the 27th-ranked MacFarlane, but fell narrowly 5-7 and 6-7(5) in the final two frames for the loss.

In consolation singles play, senior Diana Nakic earned a victory over 36th-ranked Emily Fraser of Virginia in a withdrawal. With Nakic leading 4-1 in the first set, Fraser withdrew due to an injury. In the second round of consolation play, Nakic fell to Stanford's Mallory Burdette, who is ranked 17th, in three sets 4-6, 6-3, 4-6.

Baylor will be in action next weekend, hosting the HEB Baylor Invitational on Oct. 14-16. The Bears will host the tournament starting on Friday at the Hurd Tennis Center.
