AMES, Iowa -
The Baylor soccer team (11-2-2, 3-1-1) scored a pair of second half goals to blank Iowa State (6-7-1, 0-4) Sunday evening in Ames. The Bears' record is the best through 15 games since the 1996 squad was 12-2-1.
The win completed the weekend sweep, marking the first time since 2000 that the Bears have won both weekend conference road games, as Baylor knocked off Colorado and Texas Tech on Oct. 13 and Oct. 15, respectively.
Lisa Sliwinski continued her scoring streak, notching her third goal of the weekend and fourth of the season, while Alexa Wilde recorded her fourth score of the year and Justine Hovden registered her second assist of the season.
"We had another great day that made for a great weekend," head coach Marci Jobson said. "We had players step up all over the field and I am extremely proud of their hearts and effort."
Baylor finally found the back of the net in the 59th minute, as Sliwinski and Hovden worked a two-on-one in the Cyclones' end until Sliwinski finally slotted one in from 10 yards out.
Wilde doubled the BU lead in the 64th minute when she turned and hit a floating ball toward the back post, beating the keeper to make it 2-0.
Courtney Seelhorst picked up her Big 12 leading ninth shutout, while making three saves on the day, as Baylor outshot Iowa State 20-13.
Baylor will return home to face Missouri (10-5, 1-3) Friday, Oct. 14 at 7:00 p.m.
