FLUSHING, N.Y.- Senior Diana Nakic joins a field of 32 of the nation's top singles players for the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championship on Nov. 3-6 in Flushing, N.Y.
Nakic, who earned a bid to the national tournament with a win in the singles draw at the ITA Texas Regional two weeks ago, enters the week ranked 28th. She will face UCLA freshman Robin Anderson, who is ranked No. 2 in the preseason newcomer rankings released by the ITA, at 5:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. CT. Anderson, seeded 5-8, earned an at-large into the field after a semifinal performance at the ITA/Riviera All-American last month.
Nakic enters the championship on a six-match win streak, blazing through the field at the ITA regional. She defeated No. 9 Marta Lesniak of SMU in the semifinals and No. 24 Cristina Sanchez-Quintanar in the finals with each being in straight sets.
Nakic is 13-3 on the season, having earned a semifinal berth in the HEB Baylor Invitational and qualified into the main draw of the ITA/Riviera All-American in her two tournaments prior to the regional.
Nakic is the fourth Baylor player since 2005 to play in the ITA Intercollegiate Indoor Championship, joining Zuzana Zemenova (2005), Lenka Broosova (2007) and Sona Novakova (2010) as regional champs under Scrivano.
