Head Coach Art Briles

Opening Statement...
"The offensive line did a tremendous job up front the other day. And of course Terrance (Ganaway), being as big and physical as he is, plus having the agility that he has is a pretty unique combination. I am really happy for him. Really good, tough win we had the other day. I will say it because I think it is the truth, I feel like over the last two weeks we have righted 126 years of wrong. The way my mind works and the way I figure it, we first played Oklahoma in 1901, we beat them in 2011. That is 110 years. Texas Tech, 16 years, that is 126 years. I would say that we were due and that we took advantage of the situation that we were in. "

On the excitement for the Texas game...
"Really no more than any other game. I can say that in all honesty because that has been our approach all year. It is a conference game that we need to go out and win. We are fighting hard to make ourselves a legitimate opponent every time we step out on the field and that is what we are trying to do. We are trying to go out and win for 60 minutes and we are staying in the framework of that. We are trying to win this play, this play leads into this series, this series leads into this quarter, and the next thing you know we have got 60 minutes. We are just going out and trying to get better and that is the thing I have liked about us anyway for the last month or so. I know we are getting better. We are becoming a better football team. That is why we have been able to get on this little run. "

On QB Robert Griffin III's Heisman chances...
"Being on the national stage, being on ABC certainly helps. Playing a team the caliber of Texas, with the national recognition that they have certainly helps the cause. But Robert (Griffin III) will be the first to sit here and tell you that if he throws eight passes and completes two and we win the football game, he is going to be extremely happy. That is the way Robert is. He is team first. Big we, little me is the way I like to put it. He is team first all of the way."

On the improvement on the offensive line from the start of the season to now...
"We might not have run the ball as effectively each game this year as we may have liked to, but I do think that we are getting better up front. I think it come with confidence, with schemes and with maturity. The thing I love about our offensive line starts with the center position, Philip Blake. He is not a kid, he is not a guy, he is a man. He turned 26 years old the other day. He is a man. We have a man up there touching the ball every time we take a snap. We have a man controlling our huddle with those O-linemen. We have a man dictating the mentality of our football team up front. That is an advantage."

On the practice change in Robert Griffin III coming off of the injury this weekend...
"Zero. He is cleared. He is 100 percent ready to go."

On the steps to get Robert Griffin III ready and cleared to play in the game this weekend...
"The doctors said he is okay. It does not go by what I say, it goes by what they say. He will be playing Saturday."

On losing Robert Griffin III for the second half of the game, but still being able to win...
"The key word in there is team. That is a great thing about football; it does take a group of players to win. I think the other night our guys really responded. There was no panic, no hastiness, we were going to go out and do what we do and we did it well. We had some huge defensive plays there in the second half. Nick (Florence) came out and did an outstanding job, which was a surprise to no one on our staff or on our football team. Our offensive line continued to dominate up front and Terrance (Ganaway) ran the ball extremely well. It was a total team effort."

On Texas' defense...
"Oh they are good. They are really good. They have got good people. They don't recruit, they choose. And they have chosen good people over the past two years. They have got good schemes, and they are playing with a lot of confidence. It's a great matchup. It is a great matchup for college football."

On playing extremely well in the month of November and going 4-0 for the month...
"I can look back on it because I really think the key for us was the way we responded after the Oklahoma State game. We went up there and did not produce like we felt like we could have or should have on either side of the ball. We did not allow ourselves to hang our heads and get despondent and feel like we aren't capable and that is the whole thing. If you don't believe in yourself, nobody else will. We are going to believe in what we are doing and how we are doing it and who we are doing it with. We stayed the course and we kept improving, we kept believing, we kept working and then we pulled out a three-point win against a really good Missouri team that had just come off from beating A&M at their place a week before. And then we go to Kansas and have a comeback of all ages. Like I said, check your stats and see if it happened anywhere else in America, or maybe in the last five years, a conference game on the road down 21 with 10 minutes left in the game and win. And the Oklahoma game stands by itself from a national standpoint. Then last week from a regional standpoint, just as vital."

On KJ Morton and Joe Williams...
"We don't like to recruit (junior college players) unless we think they can come in and start. That hasn't always been the case, because we have had some come in and spot playing help and we have had some guys come in and start. As far as K.J. (Morton) and Joe (Williams), that is why you go junior college, for a need. Not for a want, you go for a need. We had a need at that position and Coach (Phil) Bennett and the defensive staff did a great job of evaluating those guys, getting them here on an official visit. Our guys did a great job of making them feel like a part of this family, because we do have a family. They felt comfortable here. They saw the vision and now they are helping turn it into reality. If you find a junior college guy who is three for three, that is huge. That is a big time deal because you are getting a guy who is a little more mature, that has been on the field, that has passed all of the hype and all of the talk with recruiting and everything, and that is serious about playing football. And that is what you get a lot of the time. "

On Robert Griffin III's growth during his time at Baylor...
"I have said it a bunch, the only way to get experience is to live it. You can have all of the money in the world, you can be the best looking guy or girl, but you have to live for experience. That is part of the maturation process. It is a natural process, the more things you experience in different atmospheres, different schemes that he has had to face from the offensive side looking at defense then the better you are going to become. You add intellect along with discipline and determination with ability, then you have a chance to have a finished product which Robert (Griffin III) is becoming."

On the first time he ever saw Robert Griffin III during recruitment ...
"The first time I saw him in person is when he came up to camp. I knew he could run because I had some friends, high school track coaches, who were watching him run. That was the first thing that caught our eye. Then when he came to camp, I remember after we had gone through some drills throwing, telling the coaches hey we got to hide this guy. This guy is special. Robert (Griffin III) didn't stand at the back of the line, I told him to go to the front and get all the reps as he wanted because I was really excited when I saw him throw the football. You can teach somebody to throw and you can teach proper pocket etiquette and form, but I haven't ever seen a slow guy get fast. So we started out pretty good at that part of it."

On what Robert Griffin III has meant to the Baylor program...
"I think that is way above me. I don't think I could comment on that. I think you would have to go to Ian (McCaw) or someone else at that level. I know what he has meant to our football team and that is enough for us. I think that speaks for itself, as far as where we are on the national scene right now."

On how players like Robert Griffin III have had on helping recruit players to Baylor...
"Not only this year, but in the previous three years. It has helped us with recruiting. And having guys go first round in the draft, putting a better product on the field, getting people in the stands, all of those things make a difference in the recruiting world."

On Robert Griffin III's attitude during the second half of the game this weekend...
"Just like I said earlier, it is big we little me. It is team first and Robert is that way 100 percent. He was supporting. If you can't play, you support. If you play, you play as hard as you can play, and if you can't then you help as much as you can help and that is what he was doing. He was helping us fight to win and yes, it did help Nick (Florence). We are all in that same boat, there are no life rafts out there. If it is going down, we are going down together."

On being able to finish the year undefeated at home...
"That would be huge, especially for our seniors and for our fans. I am excited for an afternoon game at Floyd Casey quite honestly. It would be a huge plus, but it is another conference game that we need to win and that is the way that we are looking at it. That is first and foremost on our minds, we want to be the best team for 60 minutes Saturday."

On the defense being able to force turnovers...
"I think that that has been a reoccurring thing this year. I think we have had a turnover in every game this year and that is a huge plus. I think the reason why it has increased the last few weeks, first and foremost, I think coach Bennett and that coaching staff have those guys playing with a lot of confidence. They believe in what they are doing so they are doing it at a fast pace. When you are playing at a fast pace good things happen and when you are in the right position good things happen. We are playing with a lot of intensity and with a lot of spirit and with a lot of confidence on both sides of the ball, but it particularly helps you with the turnover ratio on the defensive side of the ball. I would call a 90 yard interception return for a touchdown pretty timely. That is a big time deal."

On the senior class playing in their last conference game...
"I am not sentimental in those things quite honestly. These guys are going to go out and lay it on the line against TCU the first game, SFA the second and Rice the third. We are not all of a sudden going to play hard because it is the last time we walk through that tunnel. That is not how you do things. If you are saving something, why are you out there? You never know when the last time you are going to walk down that tunnel is going to be. There will be a special meeting for grandmothers and granddads and kinfolks, so that part of it is different. As a team, we are going to go out and play extremely hard every time we step on the field."

Junior Quarterback Robert Griffin III

On not playing during the second half against Texas Tech...
"It was pretty tough. I came back out and threw the ball around expecting to go back in, and about five minutes after that I was completely back to normal. But they wanted to play it extremely safe, so you have to deal with that. My job is to be the leader whether I'm out there playing with them or if I'm on the sidelines, so I was excited to see everybody step up and play the way they did. It was true team win."

On the mentality of the team after winning a game without him...
"I think it was huge. When I was told that I couldn't go back in, a lot of the guys, both offense and defense, told me that they've got it. It makes you feel good when your team can go out there and win a game even when their leader can't be out there with them. We've experienced it before where I couldn't play and the story was a lot different. It gives those guys a lot of confidence. I'm glad that we are a confident team right now. We're on a roll and looking to stay on that roll."

On how it felt watching from the sidelines in the second half...
"I didn't want to be out of the game, but it didn't pain me any more than it did in `09. The team struggled that year and it was tough to watch. Nick has playing experience so it was good to see him go out there and play well. Seeing the defense step up like they did with the pick-six and the pick by K.J. (Morton), I loved it. I was having more fun on that sideline than I guess I did in the first half. But trust me, it's a lot more fun to be playing, and I'm looking forward to getting back on the field with the team this week."

On when he knew/felt that something wasn't right after he took that sideline hit...
"I think it got progressively worse. The hit itself obviously did damage or hurt a little bit, but it got worse as the half went on. When I went in for halftime, they gave me the modified concussion test, you know "remember these three things" and then they came back 15 minutes later and I remembered those three things. So I thought I was going back in, but like I said, they played it safe and that's what happened. I remember everything now and I was fine about five minutes after halftime sitting up and cheering on everyone from the sideline. I was fine after that. I gave out some chest bumps to guys after good defensive plays and I'm glad we won."

Senior Running Back Terrance Ganaway

On the matchup with Texas...
"It really is the biggest game because it is the next game. I've been trying to do this all season long. I try not to get too hyped up for one game and not the next because we're playing nobody. Everyone's good in the Big 12, and we're going to go out there and play a good football team. We've got to execute this week in practice, focus our minds, and prepare our bodies for a fight. "

On what it would mean for the Baylor program to have two-straight wins over Texas...
"It would mean a lot for our program. It would help us finish strong and take us into the bowl season. Also, who wants to lose? No one plays this game to lose. We go out there and play ball on Saturday to figure out who is the best team."

Senior Linebacker Elliot Coffey

On the emotional investment in this week's game versus Texas...
"I'm excited for the game, but it's definitely just another game. Any chance that you have to play an in-state team, you get juiced up for them just like last week with Texas Tech. It's bragging rights within our family and friends. "

On what it would mean for the Baylor program to have two straight wins over Texas...
"It would be great just because of how big it was last year. I actually didn't get a chance to play in the game last year because I was injured, so I didn't get the full experience in Austin. Now they're coming into our house and we're more than excited to play them. "

On preparing for the possibility of playing against two different quarterbacks...
"It's just like preparing for two running backs. You've got to see their styles. You've got to understand what they like to do most. We just have to watch film and prepare for those things. "
