WACO, Texas - Kathy Shelton led Baylor (12-0) with three hits, three stolen bases and two RBI en route to a 6-0 win over Sam Houston State (6-11) in day one of the QTI Powers Invitational on Friday at Getterman Stadium. Shelton's three stolen bases were the most since Kayce Walker swiped three bags against Central Arkansas on Feb. 19, 2010.

The Lady Bears tied a season high with four stolen bases, while the 11 hits marked the fifth, 10-plus hit game of the year for Baylor. Three other BU players had at multiple hits, as Kayce Walker, Dani Leal and Shelbi Redfearn each had two apiece.

Whitney Canion (6-0) picked up her first complete-game shutout of the season, going 7.0 innings, allowing just three hits, one walk and six strikeouts. The shutout was the third straight for the Lady Bears and fourth overall.

Baylor struck first in the third with Shelton driving an RBI-single to left center to score the pinch runner, Chelsea Kovich, from second. Clare Hosack led off the inning with one of her three walks before being pinch ran for. Jordan Vannatta came on to sacrifice Kovich to second, setting up Shelton's RBI.

Redfearn doubled the lead with a solo bomb to right center to begin the fourth, the third of her freshman campaign. Holly Holl then singled to short, and following a Hosack walk, Vannatta doubled down the line to score Holl for a 3-0 lead, while Hosack was thrown out at the plate. Shelton came through with another RBI on an infield single to short that scored Vannatta for a 4-0 mark. Following a Shelton stolen base, Walker got in on the action, singling down the left field line to score Shelton from second for the 5-0 advantage.

The Lady Bears added one more in the sixth, as Hosack drew a walk and moved to second on a Shelton single. Sydney Wilson came in to pinch run and came in to score on a Walker single up the middle for the 6-0 margin.

Canion retired seven of the last eight batters she faced for the win.

Baylor will play two games on day two, facing Central Arkansas at 3:00 p.m. and Louisiana-Monroe at 5:30 p.m. at Getterman Stadium.
