TUCSON, Ariz. - No. 22 Baylor (21-3) held a 7-3 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth, but a five-run inning from No. 4 Arizona (21-3) handed the Lady Bears a 9-7 loss Saturday night at Hillenbrand Stadium.

"This is a tough loss because we had it in the palm of our hands," head coach Glenn Moore said. "Arizona is a good team and they responded in front of their home crowd when they had to. We have to rebound quickly and get ready for tomorrow."

The Lady Bears recorded 10 hits for the second-straight night, led by Kelsi Kettler's 2-for-2, three RBI performance. Kayce Walker and Shelbi Redfearn also added two hits on the night.

Canion (10-2) took the loss after throwing three innings of relief, allowing five hits, five unearned runs, three walks and two strikeouts.

Baylor held a 7-3 lead in the bottom of the sixth when Arizona struck back with five runs. A walk to Brawley followed by a close infield single from Lastrapes put runners at first and second. An attempted sac bunt from Schutzler went to first, but a throwing error went wide, allowing Brawley to score, bringing the Wildcats within three. Canion got Del Ponte to strike out for the first out, and intentionally walked Chambers to load the bases. Canion coaxed a fielder's choice grounder to second that allowed KJ Freeland to throw home for the force out. With two outs and the bases loaded, Arriola tripled to right center that cleared the bases, and following a throwing error on the relay home, allowed her to score for the 9-7 comeback lead.

Arizona took the lead in the first, as a two-run home run from Stacie Chambers with two outs went over left center for a 2-0 lead.

The Lady Bears answered the very next inning with a four-run outburst to take the lead. Dani Leal led off the inning with a walk, and with one out, Holly Holl doubled her home for the first run of the game. Kelsi Kettler stepped in for a single that put runners on the corners, and a double down the left field line from Redfearn cleared the bases for the 3-2 lead. After reaching third on the throw home, Redfearn scored on a double to the right center wall by KJ Freeland, making it 4-2.

The Wildcats cut the Baylor in half with another long ball, a solo homer from Baillie Kirker, making it 4-3. Courtney Repka, who started the game, gave way to Liz Paul, who worked 1.1 innings, giving up one run on four hits and striking out one.

The Lady Bears took a convincing lead in the third, going up 7-3 with a three-run inning. Back-to-back singles from Leal and Canion put runners on, and with one out, Kettler smacked her first home run of the season over left field for the four-run lead.

Baylor had a chance to extend its lead in the sixth, as Kathy Shelton and Kayce Walker led off the inning with singles and reached third and second via a throwing error at shortstop. But BU recorded three-straight outs and couldn't bring the runners home, maintaining a four-run advantage.

Shelby Babcock (8-1) earned the win, coming on in relief to throw 4.2 innings, allow two hits, no runs, no walks and striking out three.

Baylor and Arizona will wrap up the series with a 1:00 p.m. CT game on Sunday.
