Baylor softball players, Whitney Canion and Holly Holl were named to the Women's College World Series Team it was announced Tuesday. The Lady Bears now have had three players named to the team in their history, as Ashley Monceaux was a member in 2007.
Canion had the best ERA of any pitcher who threw 2.0 innings or more, registering a 1.27 mark and 34 strikeouts in 33.0 innings. Opponents hit just .165 off the sophomore, who threw three complete games and two shutouts.
Holl was fifth in batting average, hitting .462 (6-for-13) with a double and home run. The redshirt freshman hit the walk-off home run in the bottom of the 13th to defeat Missouri and send Baylor to the national semifinals, the furthest in program history.
Baylor will return Canion, Holl and six more starters next season.
