WACO - The Baylor softball team finished fourth in the final polls of 2011, marking its highest ever ranking in program history. The Lady Bears were fourth in both the USA Today/NFCA and ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 polls.
BU finished as the highest ranking Big 12 school with Missouri (6th), Oklahoma (7th) and Oklahoma State (8th) rounding out the conference's top-10 teams.
Baylor advanced to the semifinals of the Women's College World Series for the first time, falling to eventual national champion, Arizona State. The Lady Bears finished with a record of 47-15, the fourth most wins in school history. BU closed the season winning 11 of its last 14 games and going 7-3 in postseason play.
