WACO, Texas - Baylor fans will have a reason to hope for colder weather on Friday, as the day's high and low temperatures will set promotional prices for 2012 baseball and softball season tickets.
Waco's high temperature on Friday, as recorded by weather.com, will set a one-week discounted price point for general admission season tickets for either the 2012 baseball or softball season. Friday's low temperature will establish the cost of youth (age 2-17) general admission season tickets.
Weather.com projects Friday's high to be 58 degrees and the low to be 31 degrees. Those prices would offer a significant discount on current season tickets, which are priced at $99 for adults and $65 for youth at baseball and $75 for all general admission softball season tickets.
"Central Texans have responded well to our football and basketball ticket promotions, and we believe that this offer for the 2012 baseball and softball seasons will also be well received, " said Baylor's Executive Associate A.D./External Affairs Nick Joos. "Baylor Ballpark and Getterman Stadium will be the place to be this spring, and we look forward to having great crowds in both venues to cheer on the Bears and Lady Bears."
More information will be available once the temperatures are known. Fans will be able to purchase season tickets at the discounted price online, in person at the Baylor Athletics Ticket Office or via phone by calling 254.710.1000 starting Sunday at 8:30 a.m. The ticket office is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is a limit of four tickets per order and a $20 service charge will also be assessed.
Baylor's baseball team is one of 14 programs nationally to play in 12 NCAA Tournaments since 1998, and the Lady Bears softball team is coming off its second Women's College World Series appearance. Head coach Glenn Moore's softball team opens the season Feb. 10 at Getterman Stadium, and head coach Steve Smith's baseball squad begins play Feb. 17 at Baylor Ballpark.
