IRVING, Texas -

Samantha Schaefer earned her second career Big 12 monthly award after being named Big 12 Equitation on the Flat Rider of the Month for October the conference announced on Wednesday. This marks the first career award in Flat after winning Fences Rider of the Month in April of 2012.

The Westminster, Md., native, had two victories and two MVP's in the month of October. Her score of 91 against Oklahoma State's Ellie Sparks was a season high in the event and highest total of the day. Schaefer's other win against No. 1 Georgia gave Hunter Seat a 6-5 victory over the Bulldogs.

Schaefer and the No. 7 Bears will next be in action, hosting Fresno State on Friday beginning at Noon at the Willis Family Equestrian Center. Admission is free and open to the public.
