WT: Secerbegovic Earns Big 12 Weekly Award

IRVING, Texas - Senior Nina Secerbegovic was named the Big 12 Player of the Week for her winning efforts in Baylor's three consecutive 4-3 victories last week, conference officials announced Monday.

The award is the first of the season for the Lady Bears, and the fourth Secerbegovic's decorated career. During the week, Secerbegovic went 3-0 in singles, without losing a set and 2-1, in doubles to help Baylor defeat No. 22 Clemson, Kansas and No. 75 Kansas State, all by the closest possible margin.

Against Clemson, Secerbegovic defeated No. 47 Keri Wong 6-2, 7-6(4) in singles and teamed with Ema Burgic to defeat the 17th-ranked duo of Wong and Josipa Bek. On the weekend, Secerbegovic also played an important part of Big 12 wins over Kansas and Kansas State with singles defeats of KU's Paulina Los (6-2, 6-1) and KSU's No. 83 Karla Bonacic (6-0, 6-1).

Secerbegovic, ranked No. 27 singles and No. 46 in doubles with Burgic, has a 17-3 mark in singles and a 10-6 mark with multiple partners in doubles. When teamed with Burgic, the pair has gone 4-1 this season with three wins over top-30 opponents.

Baylor is ranked 13th as a team with its 14-5, 2-1 Big 12 mark, and will host 44th-ranked Oklahoma at 5 p.m. on Friday and 42nd-ranked Oklahoma at 1 p.m. Sunday.
