All-Time Baylor NFL Draft Picks | Post-Draft Notes | Baylor Draft Central

NEW YORK - Three Baylor football players - center Philip Blake, running back Terrance Ganaway and right tackle Robert T. Griffin - were drafted Saturday on the final day of the 2012 NFL Draft at Radio City Music Hall.

Blake was selected No. 108 overall by the Denver Broncos in the fourth round; Ganaway and Robert T. Griffin were chosen No. 202 and No. 203 overall, respectively, by the New York Jets. The trio joins 2011 Heisman Trophy winning QB Robert Griffin III (No. 2 overall, Washington Redskins) and IR Kendall Wright (No. 20 overall, Tennessee Titans), who were taken during the first round Thursday night.

Baylor had more than four players drafted for the first time since 1996 when five Bears were selected - Darryl Gardener (Round 1 / No. 20 to Miami Dolphins), LaCurtis Jones (Round 4 / No. 125 to Miami Dolphins), Fred Miller (Round 5 / No. 141 to St. Louis Rams), Gary Bandy (Round 5 / No. 164 to Atlanta Falcons), Adrian Robinson (Round 7 / No. 232 to Indianapolis Colts).

Baylor's five offensive players drafted are the most since 1984 when five offensive players were selected - Mark Adickes, tackle; Gerald McNeil, wide receiver; Bruce Davis, wide receiver; Alfred Anderson, running back; and Allen Rice, running back.

Blake, a first-team All-Big 12 selection by the league's coaches in 2011, is the eighth Baylor player selected by the Denver Broncos. He joins former Baylor All-American and current Broncos starting center J.D. Walton, who was selected in the 2010 NFL Draft, in the Mile High City. With Blake's selection, Baylor had three players drafted in the first four rounds for the first time since 1987 - Ron Francis (Round 2 / No. 39 to Dallas Cowboys), Ray Berry (Round 2 / No. 44 to Minnesota Vikings) and Cody Carlson (Round 3 / No. 64 to Houston Oilers).

Blake, who was selected 23rd overall by the Montreal Alouettes in the 2011 CFL Canadian Draft, became the second Canadian-born Baylor player to be taken in both the NFL and CFL Drafts. Kelowna, B.C., native Danny Watkins was selected 23rd overall by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2011 NFL Draft and No. 4 overall by the British Columbia Lions in the 2010 CFL Draft.

Ganaway, an All-Big 12 selection and the Offensive MVP of the 2011 Valero Alamo Bowl, rushed for a school-record 1,547 yards and 21 touchdowns. The DeKalb, Texas, native recorded three 200-yard rushing games, matching the number of 200-yard performances in 109 previous seasons of Baylor football.

Robert T. Griffin, no relation to Robert Griffin III, was a two-year starter on Baylor's offensive line. He played in all 13 games, making 12 starts at right tackle, en route to second-round All-Big 12 honors in 2011. In two seasons at Baylor, "Big Griff" played in 26 games with 22 career starts at right tackle.

With the additions of Ganaway and RTG, five Baylor players have been drafted by the New York Titans/Jets franchise.

Former Baylor linebacker, Elliot Coffey, and defensive tackle, Nicolas Jean-Baptiste, both came to terms to sign free agent contracts. Coffey will join Blake and Walton in Denver, while Jean-Baptiste signed with the Baltimore Ravens.
