CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - To close out the ITA National Team Indoor Championships, Baylor's 15th-ranked women's tennis team (3-4) fell to 17th-ranked Nebraska (7-1), 4-1, during consolation play on Sunday at the Boar's Head Sports Club.

"I've said this before, but we're just a work in progress," head coach Joey Scrivano said. "A great football coach, Bill Parcells, once said, `You are who you are.' Right now, we're a team that's 3-4, and very inconsistent with our discipline and focus on the court. That's why we are who we are."

The Lady Bears have now lost four matches in a row for the first time since 2004. However, all four of Baylor's losses this season have come against top-20 opponents.

In doubles action, Baylor's No. 2 tandem of Megan Horter and Alex Leatu dropped their match, 8-3, against Nebraska's Janine Weinreich and Stefanie Weinstein. That victory secured the doubles point for Nebraska as BU defaulted at No. 3 doubles due to injury.

Unable to win the doubles point in five consecutive matches, Baylor's combined record in doubles matches now falls to 4-11 on the season.

To kick off singles play, Nebraska placed another point on the board with a straight-set victory from Stefanie Weinstein over Victoria Kisialeva, 6-3, 6-1, at the No. 3 spot. Baylor's lone point of the day came from Leatu's victory against Maike Zeppernick, 7-5, 6-2, at the bottom of the lineup.

Freshman Kiah Generette, after clinching the first set on Court 5, 6-4, dropped the next two sets against Weinreich, 6-0, 6-1, as BU went down 3-1. Nebraska clinched the match with Mary Weatherholt upsetting 16th-ranked Burgic, 6-1, 7-5, at the No. 1 spot.

The loss snapped a string of 18 straight wins for Baylor vs. the Cornhuskers. BU last lost a match against Nebraska on March 24, 1986. The Lady Bears are now 18-2 all-time against NU.

The Lady Bears failed to win a match at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships for the time in 10 trips to the event.

Baylor will be back in action this weekend, hosting 21st-ranked Vanderbilt on Saturday and 33rd-ranked Pepperdine on Sunday. Both home matches will take place at 1 p.m. at the Hurd Tennis Center.
