"We competed hard today and that's always a good thing," head coach Joey Scrivano said. "However, we came to play two matches on this road trip. I'll have a better assessment of our team after the OSU match tomorrow."

With the win, Baylor is now 12-13 overall and 5-1 in Big 12 play. The loss drops Oklahoma to 12-7 and 4-3 in league action.

In doubles play, Oklahoma's 20th-ranked pairing of Hermon Brhane and Whitney Ritchie downed No. 19 Ema Burgic and Victoria Kisialeva, 8-3, to open the day.

Baylor evened the doubles contest at one match apiece as Alex Clay and Jordaan Sanford polished of Zita Engbroks and Whitney Wofford, 8-5, on court 2.

To decide the point, BU's Alex Leatu and Kiah Generette upset the 82nd-ranked Mia Lancaster and Emma Devine, 9-8(2), at the bottom of the lineup.

Baylor has now won the doubles point in seven straight matches.

In singles play, Baylor quickly added to its lead. On court 3, Sanford blanked Lancaster, 6-0, 6-0.

Baylor's ninth-ranked Burgic survived an opening set tiebreaker, 7-6(0) and then led 4-1 in the second set, before her opponent, No. 69 Brhane retired to give BU a 3-0 advantage. It was Burgic's 11th straight win and moved her record to 36-8 overall and 19-5 in dual-match play.

Generette, a freshman, provided the clinching point for BU with a 6-0, 6-4 victory over Wofford on court 4. Generette has now won three consecutive matches and is 6-0 in Big 12 play.

With the match in hand, Maria Biryukova upended Abbi Melrose, 6-4, 6-3 at the No. 5 spot and Leatu earned a 7-5, 4-6, 1-0(7) win over Devine at the bottom of the lineup.

Oklahoma got its only point of the day in the last match on as Whitney Ritchie downed Victoria Kisialeva, 3-6, 7-6(1), 1-0(4).

Baylor now leads the all-time series 17-3 and has won 11 straight vs. the Sooners.

For their next match, the Lady Bears have a quick turnaround to face No. 33 Oklahoma State (12-6, 4-3) on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Stillwater, Okla. OSU lost 5-2 on Friday to TCU in its last match out.
