No. 8 Men's Golf Travels to Rod Myers Invitational
10/10/2014 12:00:00 AM | Men's Golf
The tournament will be played on the par-72, 7,136-yard course. Baylor is one of 11 teams in the field, including North Carolina, Notre Dame, Northwestern, Tulsa, East Carolina, Dartmouth, Iowa, Liberty, Michigan State and Charlotte.
"We are playing a very nice golf course," head coach Mike McGraw said. "Duke has a wonderful course out here, it has everything you want. It's long with lots of trees and elevation changes and lots of water. It just has a lot of different challenges."
The Bears lineup will be led by senior Kyle Jones, who finished among the top three individuals in each of Baylor's first two tournaments this season. Junior Andreas Gjesteby joins Jones, along with seniors Mikkel Bjerch-Andresen and Filippo Zucchetti. Junior Andrew Hans rounds out the lineup, making his Baylor debut after transferring from McLennan Community College. Junior Frederik Andersen will compete as an individual.
"It has been a long, long break," McGraw said. "The good news is the guys are anxious and excited to compete again, so enthusiasm will not be a problem this week."
Saturday's first round tee times for the Bears begin at 7:08 a.m. CT, and BU is paired with Duke and North Carolina. Baylor will begin on the first tee with Hans leading off, followed by Zucchetti, Bjerch-Andresen, Gjesteby and Jones in nine-minute intervals, respectively. Andersen tees off at 6:50 a.m. Teams will begin the second round immediately after concluding the first.
