Oct. 13, 2014 IRVING, Texas - Baylor senior quarterback Bryce Petty was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in Saturday's 61-58 come-from-behind win over No. 9 TCU, the league announced Monday.

Petty sets career highs with 510 passing yards and six touchdown passes in helping No. 5 Baylor rally past the Horned Frogs at McLane Stadium.

The Midlothian, Texas, product completed 28-of-55 passes as the Bears tied their largest deficit overcome in a game (1980 vs. SMU, 2011 at Kansas). BU trailed by 21 points with 11:38 remaining in the fourth quarter, before scoring 24 straight points.

In the final period, Petty had 123 passing yards and two passing scores to engineer scoring drives of 45, 92, 91 and 44 yards.

The quarterback's 510 passing yards were the second-most in a game in Baylor history, while his six TD passes tied a school record.

Petty's TD passes were from 66, 29, 67, 47, 28 and 25 yards. He had two previous games with four TD passes. Petty's play helped BU win its 13th-straight home game and stay unbeaten (6-0, 3-0) on the season.

It is the second offensive player of the week honor of Petty's career, after he was recognized on Nov. 18, 2013 following a win over Texas Tech.

Petty is BU's second offensive Big 12 weekly award winner of the season, after his back-up, Seth Russell, won the honor on Sept. 8. In total, Baylor has had 10 offensive players honored a combined 16 times since 2002, including 10 honorees in the last four years.

On a national scale, Petty was named the Athlon Sports National Player of the Week and the Walter Camp Offensive Player of the Week on Sunday.

Baylor plays another Big 12 road game at West Virginia on Saturday at 11 a.m. CT. The contest will be broadcast on FS1.
