Rachel Johnson claimed the Pre-National Invitational title to help the 22nd-ranked Baylor women's cross country team place seventh on Saturday at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course.
Johnson finished the 6,000-meter course in 20:21.1, which was 15.3 seconds faster than second-place finisher, Megan Curham of Princeton. The race was run on the course that will also host next month's NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships.
Behind Johnson, Alex Davis took 22nd in a time of 21:13.7, while Maggie Montoya was 45th in 21:30.7. Rounding out BU's scoring runners where Mariah Kelly (94th, 22:01.6) and Ann-Marie Dunlap (140th, 22:19.7).
Those five runners combined to tally 302 points, which was only 14 points behind sixth-place Princeton (288) and 43 ahead of eighth-place Lamar (345).
Meanwhile, the men's squad took 38th at the meet. The Bears were led by Kyle Scanlan (151st, 25:47.5) and Eric Anderson (162nd, 25:51.0).

? Last season, the Baylor women were 31st at the meet as a team.
? Johnson has now won five individual meet titles in her career.
? Johnson last won a meet at the Iowa Black & Gold Invite on Sept. 13, 2013.
? This is the second-straight week that a BU runner has won a meet, after Peyton Thomas took the title at the HBU Invitational in Houston on Oct. 10.
? Baylor's other scoring runners on the men's side included Jordan West (202nd, 26:09.8), Jonathan Tijerina (212th, 26:14.2) and Chris McElroy (245th, 26:30.0).
? In the men's race 310 runners finished for 46 teams, while on the women's side there were 43 teams with 293 runners finishing the race.
