THE RUNDOWN
ORLANDO, Fla. - The Baylor men's golf team shot 5-under-par 283 in Sunday's first round of the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational, placing the Bears in a tie for seventh place heading into Monday's second round at Lake Nona Golf Club.
The Bears trail tournament leader Texas Tech (-21) by 16 strokes and second place Florida State (-18) by 13 strokes. Baylor is five strokes out of the top five, which includes Vanderbilt (-17), Illinois (-12) and North Florida (-10).
Two Baylor players finished the day among the top 30 individuals. Junior Andreas Gjesteby is tied for eighth place after posting an opening round of 4-under 68. Kyle Jones shot 2-under-par 70 and is tied for 27th place.
Mikkel Bjerch-Andresen shot 1-under 71 and is in a tie for 36th place, while Filippo Zucchetti and Frederik Andersen both posted opening rounds of 2-over 74 to finish the day tied for 53rd place.
HIGHLIGHTS
? Andersen, Jones and Gjesteby are all tied for fourth in par-3 scoring average at 2.75.
? Jones had 14 pars in round one, which tied the fourth-most made by any player in the 75-player field.
? The Bears shot 3-under on hole No. 10, including birdies made by Bjerch-Andresen, Zucchetti and Gjesteby. The field average on the hole is +0.09 to par.
? Gjesteby made five birdies in the opening round, including one of just four birdies made by the entire field on hole No. 6.
STAT OF THE ROUND
2.90 - the Bears' team average on par-3 holes in the opening round, which leads the field. Baylor shot 2-under as a team on par 3 in the first round.

Monday's second round tee times for the Bears begin at 7 a.m. CT. Baylor is paired with UCF and California. BU will tee off on hole No. 1 with Andersen up first, followed by Zucchetti, Bjerch-Andresen, Jones and Gjesteby in 10-minute intervals, respectively.
