Oct. 26, 2014 WACO, Texas - The No. 5 nationally-ranked Baylor men's golf team is headed to Dallas for the its final event of the fall season, the seventh-annual Royal Oaks Invitational, which is hosted by the Bears at Royal Oaks Country Club.
The two-day, 54-hole event will be played Monday and Tuesday on the par-71, 7,068-yard course. Baylor is one of 12 teams in the field, including Duke, Houston, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, SMU, Texas Tech and UT Arlington.
Baylor was ranked No. 5 nationally in the latest GCAA Coaches Poll. BU trails only Illinois, Florida State, Oregon and Texas in the rankings after jumping three spots from eighth in the previous poll.
The Bears recorded their best-ever finish at the event by taking third place in 2013 with a score of 17-under 1,048. Oklahoma State has won each of the last two years at Royal Oaks, while Texas A&M has won the event three times and Iowa claimed the only other title in 2010.
For the second consecutive year, the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate will be a six-count-five event. Baylor's line-up features Kyle Jones, Andreas Gjesteby, Mikkel Bjerch-Andresen, Filippo Zucchetti, Frederik Andersen and Andrew Hans.
Monday's first round will be a shotgun start at 8:15 a.m. CT with the second round immediately following the completion of round one. The Bears are paired with Texas Tech, Oklahoma State and Iowa. Jones tees off on hole No. 1, with Gjesteby, Bjerch-Andresen, Zucchetti, Andersen and Hans on holes two through six, respectively.
