Kiah Generette got her first action of the new season, while freshman Eliza Long continued her fall season on Friday at the Hurd Tennis Center on the first day of the HEB/Under Armour Fall Invite.
The teammates first partnered together in doubles to begin the day, falling to Holly Verner and Hristina Dishkova of SMU, 8-6.
In singles action, Long dropped to 2-4 on the year with a 6-2, 3-6, 7-5 loss to Alexandra Zenovka of TCU.
The 37th-ranked Generette's singles debut was unsuccessful as she dropped a 6-4, 6-3 decision to TCU's Sofia Kadzhaya.
WHAT'S NEXT
The tournament resumes on Saturday at 10 a.m. with doubles play as Generette and Long face TCU's duo of Palina Dubavets and Alexis Pereira. The Lady Bears will have two singles matches following that doubles match. At 11:15 a.m., Generette takes on Ohio State's Grainne O'Neill and Long faces Ohio State's Anna Sanford. The 3 p.m. draw later that afternoon puts Generette against Ohio State's Ferny Paz, and Long against OSU's Olivia Sneed in singles action.
