BAYLOR IS AMERICA'S TOP OFFENSE
Baylor leads the country total offense (590.3 ypg) and scoring offense (50.4 ppg) through the season's first eight games . BU?returned a nation's-best 6,319 yards from its 2013 totals when it led the country in both categories. Currently BU's offense?is on of only two (Oregon) in the country to be in the top-five of total offense each of the last four years. It's no secret that Art Briles has completely rebuilt Baylor's football program back to national prominence, but most impressive is how speedy and pronounced the transformation has been (Briles is third on the BU?career wins list).
OKLAHOMA SERIES HISTORY
Saturday's contest will be the 24th meeting between Baylor and Oklahoma. OU?holds a 21-2 advantage in the series and a 11-0 mark over BU?in games played in Norman. Last year, a fifth-ranked BU?team claimed a 41-12 victory over No. 12 Oklahoma in Waco. The Sooners picked up a 42-34 victory in the last game in Norman. Baylor got its first win of the series with a dramatic 45-38 win. 2011 Heisman winner Robert Griffin III threw for a then-school record 479 yards and found Terrance Williams from 34 yards out, with eight seconds left.?Baylor and Oklahoma first met Oct. 26, 1901; the Sooners left Waco that day with a 17-6 victory. The teams did not play again until 1973, a 42-14 Oklahoma victory in Waco. The Bears and Sooners met again the following season in Norman with OU winning 28-11. Baylor and Oklahoma met twice more before the inception of the Big 12 in 1996, playing at Norman during the 1984 and 1989 seasons.

Through five Big 12 Conference games, Baylor's punishing rushing attack (leads Big 12, 20th nationally at 241.3 ypg) has excelled throughout games and overwhelmed opponents in fourth quarters. Thirty-seven percent of Baylor's rushing yardage (453 of 1,215 yards) in conference games has been accumulated in the final quarter, and the Bears' per-rush average is 1.6 yards more in the fourth quarter [see chart below].

When Baylor takes the field against Oklahoma, the Bears will be without three starters, who have all been lost to season-ending injuries. Senior OL Troy Baker, junior OL?Desmine Hilliard and junior DE?Jamal Palmer have all been sidelined for the rest of year. Baker suffered his injury in the West Virginia game, Hilliard came out late in the TCU?contest and Palmer went down at Iowa State. Five other starters have missed one or more 2014 games due to injury: QB Bryce Petty, WR Antwan Goodley, WR Corey Coleman, LB Aiavion Edwards, WR/PR Levi Norwood.

Following two wins at home to open the season, Baylor went on the road to win its next three games by an average of 28 points (63-21 at Buffalo, 49-28 at Iowa State and 28-7 at Texas). The Bears are the only Power 5 conference team to have three straight road games this season.
