ROLLING HILLS ESTATES, Calif. - Baylor men's tennis players
Felipe Rios and
Vince Schneider won their fourth straight match to claim the main draw doubles title at the Jack Kramer Intercollegiate Sunday.
Playing at the Jack Kramer Tennis Club, the tandem took down Stanford's Nolan Paige and David Wilczynski, 8-3, in its fourth match in four days.
Sunday's win for the BU duo came after opening the event with an 8-2 victory over Stanford's Brandon Sutter and Anthony Tsodikov on Thursday. On Friday, Rios and Schneider bested Robbie Bellamy and Tanner Smith of USC, 8-5. To reach the final, the Bear pairing cruised past SMU's Nathaniel Lammons and Arkadijs Slobodkins, 8-3, on Saturday.
HIGHLIGHTS
? Rios and Schneider, who played competitively together for the first time at the event, held a 32-13 advantage in games won.
? The doubles title is BU's first crown at the event since Tony Lupieri won the singles title in 2013.
? It was the second title for the program on Sunday as Julian Lenz won the consolation singles crown at the USTA/ITA Indoor Intercollegiate earlier in the day.
? The Rios and Schneider tandem is now 4-0 in fall play.
