EQ's Schaefer Named NCEA Rider of the Month

WACO, Texas - Baylor's Samantha Schaefer was honored Tuesday by the NCEA as National Rider of the Month for her performance in equitation on the flat during the month of November.

Schaefer, a senior from West Minster, Md., recorded a perfect 2-0 record in November in flat, and she earned MVP honors both times she competed. Schaefer assisted Baylor in defeating No. 2 Kansas State 13-7, Nov. 15 with an 87-59 win over her Wildcat counterpart.

Schaefer earned her fourth MOP honor this season at Delaware State, Nov. 21 in flat with a 75-70 win over DSU rider, Heather Hotz. Schaefer helped the Bears to a 4-1 win in the event and a 14-6 overall win over DSU.

Last month, Schaefer was honored as Big 12 Rider of the month for her performance in Fences after contributing to the defeat of previous National Champion, Georgia and No. 7-ranked TCU.

The Bears, ranked No. 1 in the NCEA, are 8-0 on the season and resume competition Jan. 29 at home vs. New Mexico State.
