GULFPORT, Miss. - After rainy conditions canceled Baylor softball's doubleheader Wednesday with Southern Miss, the No. 12-ranked Lady Bears turn their attention to the inaugural Gulf Coast Classic in Gulfport, Miss Friday thru Sunday.

Baylor (12-3) debuts the tournament against No. 25/24 Louisiana (9-5-1) Friday at 5 p.m., and then plays undefeated and unranked Mississippi State (14-0) at 8 p.m.

Saturday, the Lady Bears take on Texas State (11-5) at 5 p.m. and No. 16/14 South Alabama (11-1) at 8 p.m. To close the three-day event out, Baylor will face UTSA (7-8) Sunday at 12:30 p.m.

Baylor is 3-1 vs. the top 25 this season and will get another chance to build RPI with the GCC.

"Our schedule is tough, and we've prepared ourselves for it. We're looking forward to continue improving as a team against a good pool of competition," said Baylor head coach Glenn Moore.

Baylor's success in 2014 thus far can be attributed both to its offense and defense. The Bears are hitting .327 as a team ,while carrying a Big 12-best 1.37 team ERA.
