THE RUNDOWN
LAS VEGAS, N.V. -
Baylor women's tennis senior Ema Burgic recorded a 6-1, 6-1 straight-set win over Jacqueline Cako of the United States in opening round of the Red Rock Open on Sunday.

The tournament, an ITF $50,000 Pro Circuit event, has a 32-person singles qualifying draw and Cako was ranked No. 514 in the WTA singles listings.

The win pushes Burgic into the qualifying singles round of 16, where she will face the United States' Hayley Carter on Monday at 11:30 a.m. CT.

Meanwhile in Coral Gables, Fla., at the Miami Invite, freshman Eliza Long concluded play by going 1-1 on Sunday.

First, Long dropped a three-set battle with Auburn's Jen Pfeifler, coming up short 4-6,6-2, 7-6(4). However, the freshman quickly bounced back to cruise past Pittsburgh's Amanda Wickman, 6-0, 6-2.

The matches improve Long's record to 2-3 on the season as she went 2-1 at the Miami Invite.
