Softball Picked to Finish Second in Big 12

WACO, Texas - For the second-straight season Baylor's softball team was voted to finish second in the 2015 Big 12 Coaches' Preseason Poll. The Bears received one first-place vote and finished with 30 poll points behind defending Big 12 champ, Oklahoma.

The Sooners took the top spot with 36 points and six first-place votes. The Bears finished 2014 with a 49-16 record, a 13-5 mark and a second-place finish in the Big 12, and their third all-time appearance in the Women's College World Series.

Baylor begins the season ranked No. 10 by the NFCA after Tuesday's preseason poll was released.

Texas, Oklahoma State, and Kansas were picked to finish third through fifth, respectively while Iowa State and Texas Tech each finished with nine poll points for the final spots in the poll.

The Sooners at No. 6, and the Lady Bears are the only Big 12 teams to begin the season with a preseason national ranking from the NFCA.

Baylor opens its 2015 season Feb. 6 vs. Wichita State at home and debuts Big 12 competition in Waco vs. Oklahoma State March 27.
