WACO, Texas - Baylor football is ranked a program-best No. 2 in both the AP Top 25 and the Amway Coaches Poll released Sunday, after a 66-7 victory at Kansas Saturday and a 5-0 start to the 2015 season.

BU earned 1,390 points and 13 first-place nods from voters in the AP poll, after ranking at No. 3 last week with 1,364 points and 10 first-place votes.

The No. 2 ranking in the AP poll is Baylor's highest ever in that poll. The Bears had previously been No. 3 in both 1953 and 2013.

Baylor has now been ranked in a school-record 40 straight AP Polls, which is the FBS' fourth-best streak. The Bears have also been top 10 in 30 of the last 33 AP polls.

The Bears moved up two spots in the coaches poll, gaining 55 points and three first-place votes to total 1,463 and eight, up from 1,408 and five No. 1 designations last week. Baylor had previously been as high as No. 3 in the coaches poll on Oct. 5, 2014.

Baylor is now the highest ranked Big 12 Conference team and sits behind only defending national champion Ohio State in both polls. The Bears trail the Buckeyes by 21 points in the AP poll and by 84 in the coaches poll.

The first edition of the College Football Playoff rankings will be released Tuesday, Nov. 3.

Baylor is 5-0 for the third-straight year -- a program first -- and 2-0 in conference play for a third-straight year as well. BU will now host West Virginia at McLane Stadium at 11 a.m. Saturday. That game will be nationally televised by FOX.
