BRILES' UNIQUE SYSTEM IS AMERICA'S TOP OFFENSE
Art Briles' unique, record-breaking offense is leading the nation in total offense (719.7) and scoring (63.8) through six games, after also having led in both each of the past two seasons - total offense (581.5 ypg 2014, 618.8 ypg 2013) and scoring (48.2 ppg 2014, 52.4 ppg 2013). Baylor's offense is the only one in the country to rank among the top-four in total offense each of the last four years.

THE BRILES OFFENSE: à ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € A unique, up-tempo spread attack with origins in Bill Yeoman's `Houston Veer' (perhaps most identifiable by wide splits of receivers and a power running game), Art Briles has honed his offensive system over the past four decades as a high school and collegiate coach; it's a balanced offense, not to be confused with more common pass-heavy spread attacks. The Briles offense is also in use at Bowling Green (head coach Dino Babers) and Tulsa (head coach Philip Montgomery) under former Briles assistants. In the latest NCAAà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € statistics, those three programs, Baylor (719.7), Bowling Green (594.3) and Tulsa (550.5) are first, fourth and sixth respectively in total offense.

BIGà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € 12'S TOPà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € TEAMà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € SINCEà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € 2013
En route to back-to-back Big 12 titles, the Bears racked up matching 8-1 league records. That combined record of 16-2, plus this year's 3-0 start is far and away tops in the Big 12 since the start of 2013.

RUNà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € GAMEà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € ROLLINGà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € FORà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € BEARSà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € EARLYà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € INà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € 2015
With six straight games of 281 or more yards rushing, Baylor is second in the country by averaging 348.7 yards per contest on the ground. BU's rushing attack is a five-headed monster, which is led by Shock Linwood 803 yds. on 94 carries with 8 TDs. The junior is torching defenses for 8.5 yards per carry in 2015 and 133.8 yards per game. Both of those marks are No. 1 in the Big 12 and third and 8th in the country, respectively. Behind Linwood, redshirt freshman Terence Williams has made the most of his closer role, producing 417 yards on 61 carries with 1 TD. Sophomore Johnny Jefferson (372-57-4) and Devin Chafin (107-20-1) give BU four running backs with over 100 yards through five games. Meanwhile, QBà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € Seth Russell can also gain yards on the ground, racking up 338 yards on 41 carries and 5 TDs in 2015, including a career-day on the ground against West Virginia with 14 attempts for 160 yards and a score.

BAYLOR HOMECOMING HISTORY
Baylor plays its 92nd Homecoming game Saturday, marking the 106th anniversary of its first Homecoming in 1909. Baylor's Homecoming Parade is the nation's largest, and Baylor is among the first five schools nationally ever to celebrate Homecoming. The event became annual in 1924 when the name was changed from "Good Will Week" to Homecoming. The Bears are 44-43-4 in Homecoming contests, including an 8-11 record in the Big 12 era. Baylor's first Homecoming game was a 6-3 win over TCUà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € in 1909, however, it would not play another such game until 1915, when it beat TCU on Thanksgiving Day, 51-0. From 1916 thru 1923, there again was a gap in Homecoming festivities until 1924. Baylor has played a Homecoming game every season since 1924, with the exception of two years during World War II (1943-44) when the Bears didn't field a team. The Bears and Cyclones have met three times before for Baylor's Homecoming with BU going 2-1 in those games (W, 49-21 in 1996; L, 25-26 in 2004; W, 71-7 in 2013).

The Bears snapped that streak with a 23-13 victory at Ames in 2005 and won 38-10 in Waco in 2008 before falling in 24-10, in Ames in 2009 and picking up a 49-26 home win in 2011. The last time BUà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € was in Ames (2012), Iowa State claimed a 35-21 victory. Last year, BUà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € collected its first win in Ames since 2005 with a 49-28 victory at Jack Trice Stadium. Baylor has won five of the last seven vs. the Cyclones.

It's no secret that Art Briles has rebuilt Baylor's football program back to national prominence, but most impressive is how quickly and pronounced the transformation happened (Briles is third on the BUà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € career wins list).

NEW QUARTERBACK, SAME RESULTS
With two-time Big 12 champion quarterback Bryce Petty taking his talents to the NFL, fourth-year junior Seth Russell was handed the keys to America's top offense and he has shown he is more than apt to handle the responsibility. The Garland, Texas, product has put up sensational numbers through his first six starts of 2015.

SCORINGà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € BECOMINGà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € HISTORICà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € AGAIN
à ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ €  Through six games of 2015, the Bears have put up 383 points, which are the second-most by any school since major classification began in 1937 (via Elias Sports Bureau).

TEAM: YEAR, POINTS
Baylor: 2013, 388
Baylor: 2015, 383
Oregon: 2013, 341

COLEMAN CARRYING `WIDE RECEIVER U' BANNER
Through six games, junior Corey Coleman has firmly taken hold of the No. 1 receiver roll, which continues a long history of success for BUà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € at the wide receiver position. He currently leads the country in TDà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € catches (16) and is second in receiving yards per contest (146.2).

COLEMANà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € BREAKSà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € SINGLE-SEASONà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € TDà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € CATCHà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € RECORD
With three more TDà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € grabs against West Virginia, Corey Coleman became the single-season touchdown reception leader at BUà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € passing Kendall's Wright 2011 mark of 15. Through six games of his record-setting season, Wright only had 9 TD grabs. He now needs 9 more catches to tie the Big 12 single season-record of 25, established by West Virginia's Stedman Bailey in 2012. Coleman is also on the cusp of setting BU's career TDà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € catch record as he needs one more scoring grab to tie Wright's career mark of 30.

BAYLORà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € EARNSà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € HIGHEST-EVERà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € RANKINGS
After starting the season 6-0, Baylor stayed at No. 2 in both the AP Top 25 and Amway Coaches Poll. BU earned 1,416 points and 12 first-place nods from voters in the AP poll, after moving up to No. 2 last week with 1,390 points and 13 first-place votes. The No. 2 ranking in the AP poll is Baylor's highest ever in that poll. The Bears had previously been No. 3 in both 1953 and 2013. Baylor has now been ranked in a school-record 41 straight AP Polls, which is the FBS' fourth-best streak. The Bears have also been top 10 in 31 of the last 34 AP polls. The Bears remained at No. 2 in the coaches poll, gaining 25 points and four first-place votes to total 1,488 and 12, up from 1,463 and eight No. 1 designations last week. Baylor had previously been as high as No. 3 in the coaches poll on Oct. 5, 2014. Baylor is now the highest ranked Big 12 Conference team and sits behind only defending national champion Ohio State in both polls.

OPPORTUNISTICà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € DEFENSE
Baylor's defense under coordinator Phil Bennett has demonstrated a knack for making big plays at key moments to contribute to the Bears' winning ways over the past four-plus seasons. BUà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € currently leads the nation by forcing a turnover in 22-straight games. In four-plus years under Bennett, Baylor's D has recorded at least one takeaway in 53 of 58 games - a total of 123 takeaways (73 interceptions, 50 fumbles recovered). Overall under Bennett, Baylor is 33-5 when recording two or more takeaways, including 5-0 in 2015.

OWNINGà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € THEà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € LONEà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € STARà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € STATE
Baylor has racked up a 19-3 record vs. in-state foes over the last four-plus years, including victories in its last 12 meetings with other Texas schools. The Bears have also been successful against any opponent when the game has been played in the Lone Star State, boasting a 26-1 record over its last 27 games and a 37-4 mark in contests over the last four-plus years in Texas.

HOME WINNING STREAK ISà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € NATION'S BEST
The Bears' 19-game home win streak is a school record and is the nation's best active string. The streak started on Nov. 3, 2012 and BUà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € hasn't lost at home since Oct. 13, 2012. During its home win streak, BUà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € is averaging 56.8 points, while limiting foes to 20.3 points. The Bears are racking up 676.2 yards per game and holding opponents to 320.6 during the streak.

BAYLOR'S POWERFUL OFFENSE ALSO CRAZY FAST
Baylor is continuing a three-year period of dominance in scoring quickly. Through six games of 2015, Baylor leads the nation two minutes or less (34). In 2014, Baylor's up-tempo offense led the nation in plays/gameà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € (87.5), TD drives of one minute or lessà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € (24), TD drives of two minutes or less (41, tied with Oregon) and fewest seconds-per-play in the first halfà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € (18.0). The Bears also led the NCAA in TDs of 40 or more yards (19) and TDà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € throws of 25 or more yardsà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € (24). In 2013, Baylor's offense led the nation in seconds-per-playà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € (16.7), TD drives of one minute or less (29), TD drives of two minutes or lessà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € (60) and most plays of 40 yards or more (37). TWO-TIME CHAMPS RETURN ROSTER LOADED WITH VETERANS
Baylor's experience was on display in the opening win against SMUà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € as only 3 of 22 starters logged their first career start. Every member of the starting offense had a least one start to his credit. Not only does Baylor boast a veteran-laden roster in 2015, it's a squad full of players wearing multiple Big 12 championship rings. The Bears return 30 veterans who have lettered on back-to-back Big 12 championship teams (and another 22 who lettered on a single championship team in 2014). BU's powerful offensive machine, which has led the nation in total offense and scoring each of the past two years, returns its entire starting offensive line from the 2015 Cotton Bowl, its entire backfield and 10 of 13 receivers from 2014.

BAYLOR D-LINE: "SCARY GOOD"
Baylor's defensive line is loaded with talented veterans and features a five-man rotation that Phil Steele termed,à ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € "one of the best defensive lines in the country." The quintet is made up of senior All-American Shawn Oakman, a trio of All-Big 12 honorees in junior Andrew Billings and seniors Beau Blackshear and Jamal Palmer, and 2014 Freshman All-American K.J. Smith, and has combined for 157 career games, 423 tackles, 115.5 TFL and 41.0 sacks.

BRILES' PIPELINE OF STELLAR QBs
Baylor head coach Art Briles has established himself as a serious recruiter and mentor of elite quarterbacks. His list of proteges over the last dozen years includes Bryce Petty (Baylor/Jets), Nick Florence (Baylor), Robert Griffin III (Baylor/Redskins), Case Keenum (Houston/Texans), Kevin Kolb (Houston/Bills) and Kliff Kingsburyà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € (Texas Tech/Jets).

VETERAN O-LINE PROTECTING NEW QB, POWERINGà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € RUNà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € GAME
Baylor's offensive line has six linemen with 14 or more career starts (Spencer Drango 41, Kyle Fuller 19, Desmine Hilliard 18, Blake Muir 18, Jarell Broxton 14, Pat Colbert 14). The line allowed just 1.00 sacks-per-game during its 2014 championship run [see chart below]. The 2015 line is ranked second in the Big 12 and 11th in the nation by giving up just six sacks in six games. That veteran group has also helped BU become the nation's No. 2 rushing offense with 348.7 yards per game. In the preseason, the group was dubbed the nation's No. 2 unit by Lindy's, No. 4 by Athlon and No. 6 by Phil Steele. Baylor's reserves got in the act at Kansas as six lineman each career-high coaches grades and five had career-best numbers in knockdowns.
