WACO, Texas ÃÆ' ¢Ãƒ ¢' ¬" Baylor soccer junior defender Lindsay Burns was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District VII second team, the organization announced Thursday.

Burns earned the honor for the first time in her career and marks the fifth time in the last six years that Baylor has had a player garner the accolade. Overall, the Yakima, Washington, native is the 15th player in program history to be recognized as BU has had 24 all-time honorees (includes players honored multiple times) and 15 since 2010.

A psychology major with a 3.65 GPA, Burns has been the Bears' stopper on defense by man-marking each opponent's best player for most of every match and she rarely gives up a goal or more than a shot or two to that player. In 17 games and 15 starts, she has one assist and has taken seven shots.

Academically, Burns is a four-time Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll member, 2014 Academic All-Big 12 first team choice, 2013 Big 12 Academic All-Rookie Team honoree and was on the 2013 Baylor Dean's List.

The Bears finish the regular season at home Friday at 7 p.m. CT vs. West Virginia on FOX Sports Plus.
