WACO, Texas â '¬" The Baylor men's golf team is headed to the 30th-annual Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate, which will be held Monday and Tuesday and is hosted by Alabama at the Old Overton Club in Vestavia Hills, Ala.

The two-day, 54-hole event will be played on the par-70, 7,209-yard course, which was voted "America's Best New Private Course" by Golf Digest in 1994. The course was designed in part by the name-sake of the tournament, Jerry Pate, along with Tom Fazio.

Baylor, which is No. 34 in the latest Golfweek rankings, is one of 12 teams in a field that includes six top-35 ranked teams and 11 top-100 squads. The Bears will compete against No. 29 Alabama, No. 51 Arkansas, No. 2 Auburn, No. 65 Charlotte, No. 33 Florida, No. 5 Florida State, No. 82 Kennesaw State, No. 98 Mississippi State, UTSA, No. 32 UAB and No. 58 UNLV.

The Jerry Pate Intercollegiate is the third of four tournaments on Baylor's fall schedule. BU tied for third place at the season-opening Gopher Invitational and placed 12th at the Fighting Illini Invitational. The Bears will host the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate in Dallas on Oct. 26 and 27.

The Bears opened the season with the same lineup in each of their first two tournaments, but there's been one change to the lineup with sophomore transfer Matthew Perrine set to make his Baylor debut on Monday.

Perrine, who will play in the No. 5 spot in Baylor's lineup, joined the Bears after spending his freshman season at Auburn. Seniors Andreas Gjesteby and Frederik Andersen are in the No. 1 and No. 2 spots, respectively, followed by freshmen Braden Bailey and Garrett May.

The Bears last competed at the Old Overton Club in 2008 and finished fourth. Teams will play two rounds on Monday before Tuesday's 8 a.m. shotgun start for the final final round. Perrine has the Bears' first tee time at 7:30 a.m. Monday, and he'll be followed in 10-minute intervals by May, Bailey, Andersen and Gjesteby, respectively. The Bears are paired with players from Alabama and Charlotte.
