Head Coach Art Briles

Opening statement:
"Well, we have another big challenge. Every week in the Big 12 is a big week, and we certainly have one this week. We had a great atmosphere the other night for Baylor University. I kind of wish the rain would've held off a little bit, I think it certainly dampened things a little bit. From a national exposure standpoint, I think it was great for our University, great for the Big 12, but not great for Baylor, which was the No. 1 objective, which we didn't accomplish. Oklahoma's a very good football team and we have a new challenge this week going to Stillwater, which is a place that, in my tenure, we haven't fared that well, so we have a chance to be able to do something we've never done."

On why Stillwater is such a difficult place to play:
"I think all the Big 12 venues are hard. It's hard to win on the road, it's hard to win at home. You just have to get everything. Just like the other night, the margin for error is so minute and small that if you have one mistake within a drive, it could cost you the outcome of the game. When you get into games of that nature, that's just the way it is. Every time we've gone into Oklahoma State, it hadn't been good, that's the bottom line. They've always been a good football team. I actually have a whole lot of respect for them as a team because they do a great job of playing within themselves. You see them in all types of games, they never panic, they always have poise, they always believe in their system, and a lot of it has to do with how long Coach [Mike] Gundy has been there with his system. They've done a good job for a long time, similar to Coach [Bob] Stoops and Oklahoma. Those guys have seen a lot, done a lot, and understand a lot, so I have a lot of respect for them. They're a tough out."

On if he's surprised on BU's speed on kickoff returns and why BU hasn't had more long returns:
"You don't get very many chances at kickoff returns. We kind of weigh the option of if it's a yard deep, do you take a knee as opposed to bringing it out and having a chance of not getting a good return, or even the potential of a turnover. We knew the other night we'd get a couple shots because the ball was getting heavy, and it was raining, so we weren't surprised with [Ishmael Zamora's big return]. We were more surprised he didn't score, because No. 10 came and got him from the backside and made a good play on him. We lost momentum because we didn't score one right there, because we should've banged one in from there. So we lost some momentum from the crowd. There's good kickers, and good coverage returners, and they place the ball so it's hard to get a good return. So when you get one, you have to make it count, and [Zamora] did."

On similarities of last couple games with BU's run attack being shut down:
"Shutting down the run, I think we're a little bit different now than we had been prior to Kansas State, so that's something that fits into the equation a little bit. K-State is perennially a good run defense, we always respected them there. Oklahoma is the same way, those guys are going to stop the run ÃÆ' ¢Ãƒ ¢' ¬" that's how they base their philosophy. I think you'll see Johnny [Jefferson] play this week. It's been a situation where he has a lot of talent and the flow of the game just hasn't dictated much, and we haven't been super successful running the ball lately, but we have a lot of confidence in him."

On if Baylor can win out, pieces fall into place, and still make the playoffs:
"Really, I hadn't even thought that far, and really hadn't thought that far prior to last week. I have just been flooded with so many questions about it that you get tired of saying the true coaches cite that its one game at a time, so people get tired of hearing and writing that. We're actually in the situation now where our vision is pretty tunnel. It's Stillwater this Saturday at 6:30 p.m., and whatever happens from there happens, and I think we all know that it's pretty hard to predict what's going to happen. We have to fight hard and get a win [at Oklahoma State]."

On Jarrett Stidham's back injury:
"He's feeling better. I told him that he's moving around about like me. I'm not sure how good that is for a 19-year-old. He's fine, the thing we were pleased about was that he got an MRI yesterday and the results came back negative, so we're just dealing with muscles and bruising which equates to soreness and pain. But there's no structural damage and that's the encouraging part. He's better today than he was yesterday evening and we think tomorrow and as the week progresses he will be fine. It did trouble him some the other night, it happened on the third play of the night, I think. He did a good job of playing through it."

On the Big 12 Championship still being in reach:
"The way I can mathematically figure it, I think we're still very much alive. That's it, it's very hard to go undefeated in this league. We know that and everyone else in the league knows it. If you can bounce around and have more numbers in the front than in the back when it's all over, then you'll have a pretty good chance when it's all said and done. We understand we have three tough weeks in front of us, starting with this week with Oklahoma State."

On how the players injured in the Oklahoma game are looking for next week:
"I think [Chance] Waz is probable, [Beau] Blackshear is doubtful, Orion [Stewart] ÃÆ' ¢Ãƒ ¢' ¬" I think we'll know more when the week goes on. [Byron] Bonds I would think doubtful on him, and [Shawn] Oakman is fine. He's good."

On how Corey Coleman's confidence is and how he's going to bounce back:
"I'm not worried about his confidence at all. He's a confident guy, and he will continue to make plays. They did an excellent job of changing up some coverages and stuff. I think we probably could've been more forceful with the ball, but there were a couple of factors involved. You weigh aggression as opposed to intelligence when you're in a game of that nature where we were behind the eight-ball most of the game and were fighting uphill. So you have to be very conscious of getting productive plays when you have them because they were doing a good job of answering offensively. So when you have the ball you have to play percentages a little bit more as opposed to just flubbing it out there and letting it go. He'll be fine. As an offensive unit I think we'll be able to adjust."

On what Oklahoma State's defense does that makes them tough:
"I think they're very creative - they have a lot of variety on the defensive side of the ball between a four-man, three-man front and their coverages on the back end. [Glenn] Spencer has been there awhile, he was there with Bill Young and when he retired he took over and maintained the same structure, the same philosophy and has done a really good job. And they have really good guys, they have good people. They do a good job recruiting the state of Texas. There will be eight guys starting on defense from Texas and seven or eight on their offense. They do a nice job of getting guys that fit their system. Mike [Gundy] has been there long enough that they have a really good idea of what they're looking for in players. They have enough attractiveness as a university from a facilities standpoint and home game atmosphere standpoint that they can pull some good kids out of Texas and fill what they're looking for. I think they've just done a nice job over the years of having good people that fit their philosophy that go up there and play for them."

On if it's harder to play a team that has a two quarterback system:
"Yeah, it is. It really is. J.W. [Walsh] does a great job for them. He comes in, midfield, short-yardage and they'll throw with him. He was a starter last year until [Mason] Rudolph took over. I think Rudolph's first start was against us last year and he's been the starter ever since. Of course, he does a tremendous job running their offense and J.W. adds that little extra benefit for them that keeps you on your toes defensively, because he can throw. He's not just a running QB. He's a fifth-year guy who's played a lot of snaps for them."

On Xavien Howard's play:
"He's playing really well. He played really well last year, the whole year. We ask a lot out of him, and he delivers a lot. He does a tremendous job for us. He really does a lot, being a lock-down corner on an island. He's lived up to what he need from that place on our defense. He's just continued to get better and better."

Jarrett Stidham, QB

On how he's feeling physically:
"I feel good. I'm feeling a lot better. Saturday, after the game, I was feeling pretty bad. But that's just part of it, and today I'm feeling a lot better."

On how they played against Oklahoma:
"Especially looking at the film yesterday, there are some things we could have done better as an offense. We just didn't capitalize on some things and turned over the ball a few times. We just didn't execute at certain points, so it was frustrating. But that's in the past, and we have to move on to this week against Oklahoma State."

On being fired up:
"I think we always have a chip on our shoulder. That's how it is here at Baylor. But we're going to approach this week like we do every week. OSU is a great football team and a great program, and we know they'll have a live crowd there in Stillwater."

Corey Coleman, WR

On Oklahoma's success containing him:
"Really good program. They planned well for me. They were rolling coverages, and sometimes I was getting triple teamed. They did a great job game planning."

On why playing in Stillwater is so hard:
"They have a great fan base and the crowd is always really into it. They're a great program, too. We just have to make sure we focus and don't lose that focus. We have to come together. Losing to Oklahoma was hard, but we have to make sure everyone is still confident and just handle our business."

Spencer Drango, OT

On injuries:
"Everyone is banged up during the season. If you don't have people down at this point, there must be something in the water. You might want to look into that. But it just happens. Football is a contact sport, but it's mental, too. Overall, I think we're in a good spot. We just have a few bumps and bruises that time can fix."

On Oklahoma State's DE Emmanuel Ogbah:
"I haven't watched much this year, but I've played them before. He's very good. He leads the conference in sacks, so it'll be a good challenge. I think he'll switch sides a little bit. But he's tall and disruptive in the back field, so it'll be a good challenge for us. We just have to stay true to our fundamentals and we'll be alright."

Travon Blanchard, NB

On playing in Stillwater:
"They have a really good atmosphere down there. We just have to go down there and execute the game plan, win the turnover battles and play good defense."

On Oklahoma State's offense:
"They have good quarterbacks, good players around them. [One of] their quarterbacks can run, so we're going to have to keep our pass rushing lanes. We can't give up explosive plays; whenever we have them in third down and have a chance to get off the field, we have to make sure we get off the field and don't give them a chance to convert and keep the drive going."

On what he thought of Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield:
"He's a really good player, you can't take anything away from him. He went in there and made plays whenever they needed plays. He made a bunch of good runs, a bunch of good passes. I mean, their team as a whole ÃÆ' ¢Ãƒ ¢' ¬" their running backs did a good job and their receivers helped him also. But Mayfield, I think he did a good job against a good defense."

On what changes they need to make for this coming week:
"We have to show them different pictures, keep them uncomfortable in the pocket, and after that we just have to rally and make tackles whenever we have an opportunity. We have to force takeaways and just try to keep them out of the end zone."

On how the defense felt this past week:
"This past week we had a really good week of preparation. We understood the game plan, we had a few ideas of where a few plays would go based off their formations. So the defense, we felt pretty good out there."
