WACO, Texas ÃÆ' ¢Ãƒ ¢' ¬" After finishing her first colligate soccer season at Baylor, freshman forward Jackie Crowther has been called to train with the U-20 Women's Mexican National Team as she attempts to earn spot on the team that will represent Mexico in the CONCACAF U-20 World Cup Qualifiers.
"I'm going to Mexico tomorrow to train until December first," said Crowther. "If I make the qualifying team, then I'll be playing in the U-20 World Cup Qualifiers in Honduras until December 14th."
This is not the first time the Temecula, California, native has represented a Mexican National Team. During the 2014 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in Costa Rica, she started in all four games and scored one goal in a 4-0 victory over Colombia. Also, this past summer Crowther played for Mexico in the NTC Invitational in Carson, California.
"I am very excited to have another opportunity to play with this team, especially after my first season at Baylor," said Crowther. "Getting invited back to play with the national team is always a new competition, and I feel that I have grown a lot physically and mentally through my first college season."
In Crowther's freshman campaign with the Bears, she saw action in all 19 games, had an assist and scored three goals, including a game-winning goal against Oklahoma State in overtime. She was named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week Sept. 29th for her performance in the OSU game.
"I'm thrilled to be able to take what I've learned [at Baylor] and use it at that level," Crowther said. "I don't know what God has in store for me as far how the tournament will go, but I know it will be an awesome experience."
