WACO, Texas ÃÆ' ¢Ãƒ ¢' ¬" Baylor football senior Spencer Drango was selected to the 2015 Academic All-America first team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday.

All-time, Drango is the program's 23rd Academic All-America choice.

In the classroom, the Cedar Park, Texas, product has been a three-time Academic All-Big 12 honoree, while earning 2013 and 2015 first-team CoSIDA Academic All-District honors. He is a two-time Baylor Dean's List honoree and an eight-time Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll selection. Drango graduated in December 2014 with a degree in Finance and is currently working on his Masters of Business Administration. He owned a 3.71 GPA in his undergrad studies and currently boasts a 3.97 in his MBA course work.

As a four-year starter at left tackle, Drango is the leader for a Baylor offensive line that blocks for the nation's top offense as the Bears are averaging 616.0 yards per game and scoring 50.8 points per contest.

Drango has helped Baylor's rushing attack rank fourth in the country with 291.5 yards per contest. He is also a key component in helping the Bears give up only 1.27 sacks per game, which ranks 24th-best nationally and leads the Big 12.

The senior has already been honored as an Outland Trophy finalist, a Rotary Lombardi semifinalist, a Wuerffel Trophy semifinalist, a Campbell Trophy finalist and a candidate for the Senior CLASS Award. In order to qualify for the honor, Drango was named to the 2015 Academic All-District first team in early November.

Last season, the Bears placed two players on the team for the first time in school history as Troy Baker and Collin Brence were recognized as second-team honorees. BU's last first-team selection was Nick Florence in 2012. Since 2005, BU has had 10 selections.

In total, there are 49 athletes on the 2015 list, including 26 on the first team. Drango is one of only two athletes from the Big 12 to be selected, along with Oklahoma's Ty Darlington.

No. 12 Baylor closes the regular season Saturday at 11 a.m. CT against Texas on ESPN at McLane Stadium.
