WACO, Texas - After coming off its tri-meet victory, Baylor Acrobatics & Tumbling (2-0) will hit the road to take on the Tornado of King University (0-1) Saturday Feb. 21, at 4 p.m. CT in Bristol, Tenn.
"The first meet was great. Thank you to the student body, everyone at Baylor and the Waco community for the great turnout. The girls did very well," head coach Felecia Mulkey said. "From what I saw during the weeks leading up to the first meet was a big change in confidence and total mindset shift. That put us at a great place to move forward this season. We started out with that first meet playing some things safe, but now we can try to up that by the end of the year if we can. I'm excited about where we are and what we will be able to do down the road."
The Bears opened the 2015 season with a tri-meet victory on Feb. 7 at home against the Quinnipiac Bobcats and the Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons. After getting the first meet nerves out of the way, Baylor looks to keep the momentum going and capture its third win of the season.
"Some of the adjustments we made are in the team routine. It may not even be visible because the team routine is so fast, but we were able to upgrade some of the tumbling passes and add a little more difficulty," Mulkey said. "Moving forward, maybe we'll be able to do that in our Toss Event which was an event that we struggled with in the first meet. We made a couple of adjustments and personnel adjustments here and there so we can clean things up a bit."
In its second NCATA season, the Tornado opened with a loss at home on Feb. 8 versus Alderson Broaddus University, 272.185-262.405.
"I'm excited about the first trip with this team. I believe that the first road trip really brings everything together," Mulkey said. "We're excited to be going to King University, although the weather is a little bit different in Bristol, Tenn., than it is here. We will all be bringing our parkas."
