LAREDO, Texas -
The Baylor men's golf team is tied for the lead after shooting 12-under-par 564 across 36 holes at Laredo Country Club on Friday at the Border Olympics.

The Bears are tied at 12-under with Houston, two strokes ahead of Pacific (-10) in third place, three strokes in front of fourth-place Sam Houston State (-9) and seven ahead of fifth-place McNeese State (-7).

Baylor was tied for second place after shooting 8-under 280 in the first round, one shot back of Pacific's tournament-leading 279. The Bears shot 4-under 284 in the second round, while Pacific dropped from first to third with a 1-under 287.

Kyle Jones is tied for second place and one shot back of tournament leader Matt Scobie of Houston (-9). Jones is at 8-under 136 after shooting 5-under 67 and 3-under 69 on Friday. Filippo Zucchetti shot 69-71 to finish the day tied for sixth place at 4-under 140. Mikkel Bjerch-Andresen is tied for 16th at 2-under 142, Andreas Gjesteby is tied for 43rd at 2-over 146, and Frederik Andersen is tied for 68th at 5-over 149.

Jackson Heazel and Nick Thornton, who are both playing as individuals, are tied for 43rd place at 2-over 146. Heazel shot 1-over 73 in both rounds, and Thornton shot 3-over 75 in the first round, followed by 1-under 71 in the second.

HIGHLIGHTS
? Jones is tied for second in par-4 scoring average at 5-under 3.75.
? Bjerch-Andresen and Jones are tied for seventh in par-3 scoring at 1-under 2.88.
? Zucchetti and Jones each made 10 birdies over 36 holes, tied for sixth-most in the 102-player field.
? Andersen made 28 pars, tied for third-most in the field, while Bjerch-Andresen tied for sixth with 27 pars.
