A&T Dominates NCATA Individual Event Finals

THE RUNDOWN
On the first day of the 2015 National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association's championship weekend, Baylor Acrobatics & Tumbling came away with eight national titles in the Individual Event Finals.
The Bears qualified for a program-record all 15 events, and were represented by a total of 28 student athletes, another program best. Sophomore Kiara Nowlin won five titles while freshman Shayla Moore and sophomore Allie Williams took home three each. Five athletes took home two titles each.
HIGHLIGHTS
? First national title of the night came from the 5 Element Acro team comprised of Allie Williams, Sydney Evans, Kaelyn Cowan and Alexa Crumpton.
? The team of Allie Williams, Bresha Pierce, Britta Pierce, Alyson Johnson, Madison Aldis, Meredith Aldis, Sydney Evans, and Taylor Watson won the Pyramid Heat 1 title.
? The Pyramid Heat 2 national title was won by Allie Williams, Shayla Moore, Kiara Nowlin, Miranda Girouard, Lauren Sturm, Alexa Crumpton and Courtney Pate.
? Courtney Pate and Lauren Sturm teamed up to take the Tumbling Duo title.
? The trio of Shayla Moore, Kiara Nowlin and Toni Bronisevsky took home the Tumbling Trio title.
? The team of Shayla Moore, Kiara Nowlin, Toni Bronisevsky and Keegan Johnson won the Tumbling Quad national title.
? Kiara Nowlin won the Tumbling Aerial title.
STAT OF THE DAY
Sophomore Kiara Nowlin defended her 2014 NCATA Six Element Tumbling title successfully, taking home the 2015 title.

"I'm very proud of the team today. We won eight of the ten national titles that we had a really good shot at. Kiara Nowlin handed in another solid performance. Allie Williams also competed well as a top in the Acro and both pyramids that won," head coach Felecia Mulkey said. "This was a great warm-up for the team championship that begins tomorrow. The team was overall relaxed and executed well."
WHAT'S NEXT
The No. 1 seeded Bears will begin its national championship quest tomorrow, Friday, April 24, as they take on the No. 8 seeded King University at 1:45 p.m. (CT) in Fairmont, W.Va.
