THE RUNDOWN
WACO, Texas - For the 12th-straight year, the eighth-ranked Baylor women's tennis team advanced to the semifinal round of the Big 12 Championship with a 4-0 win over ninth-seeded Kansas State at the Hurd Tennis Center Friday.

Baylor improved to 23-6 with the win and 16-2 in home matches.

Singles matches were played first due to threat of inclement weather and doubles went uncontested, after the Bears clinched the win in singles play.

Just five days after shutting out the Wildcats in their regular season finale, the Bears again blanked K-State to advance to the 15th semifinal round in program history.

BU jumped on the board quickly as the 82nd-ranked Kiah Generette secured a victory over Palma Juhasz at the No. 2 spot. With Generette leading 3-0 in the first set, Juhasz suffered an injury and had to retire from the match.

Kelley Anderson was able to add to the lead as she got past Maria Panaite, 6-1, 6-0 on court five.

The 22nd-ranked Ema Burgic also picked up a straight-set victory over Carolina Costamagna, 6-0, 6-1, at the top of the lineup to put BU up 3-0.

To clinch the match, first-year Bear Theresa Van Zyl produced a 6-1, 6-3 triumph over Livia Cirnu on court four.

Kansas State fell to 9-17 with the loss.
