April 29, 2015 WACO, Texas - Baylor and Utah will square off in football for the first time ever, as the schools have signed a two-year contract for a series to be played during the 2023 and 2024 seasons. The Bears and Utes will meet on Sept. 16, 2023, at Baylor's McLane Stadium with the return game in the two-game set scheduled for Sept. 14, 2024, at Utah's Rice-Eccles Stadium.
"We are excited to begin a football series with Utah," said Baylor Director of Athletics Ian McCaw. "The Utes have enjoyed considerable success on the national level including five 10-win seasons since 2003."
It will mark Baylor's first-regular-season series against a Pac-12 opponent since a two-game set against Washington State in 2006 and 2008. Baylor is 22-20 all-time against Pac-12 foes, most-recently handing then-17th-ranked UCLA a 49-26 loss in the 2012 Bridgepoint Educator's Holiday Bowl in San Diego.
Baylor, which has won back-to-back Big 12 titles and won 10 or more games in consecutive seasons for the first time in program history, finished 11-2 overall in 2014 while Utah capped a 9-4 season with a Las Vegas bowl win over Colorado State. The Bears have played in a school-record five consecutive bowl games entering the 2015 campaign while Utah has made nine bowl trips in the past 11 seasons.
