HOUSTON -- Baylor women's tennis players
Gabriela Ferreira and
Theresa Van Zyl both picked up more singles and doubles experience at the Rice Invitational Saturday at the George R. Brown Tennis Center.
In doubles, Ferreira and Van Zyl tallied a 6-3 triumph over Neda Koprcina and Lana Groenvynck of Texas, but followed up that result with a 6-0 loss to Rice's 31st-ranked Lindsey Hodge and Alison Ho in the semifinal round.
Ferreira, a freshman, dropped a 6-4, 6-2 singles contest to New Mexico State's Ashvarya Shrivastava in the consolation semifinals.
In the other singles consolation semifinal match, Van Zyl was beaten by UTSA's Miriam Rosell Canudas, 6-4, 6-4
WHAT'S NEXT
Ferreira and Van Zyl will continue action at the Rice Invitational Sunday. Singles action will begin at 9:45 a.m.
