THE RUNDOWN
HUNTSVILLE, Texas â '¬" Baylor soccer played to its first tie of the season in a 1-1 double-overtime decision at Sam Houston State Friday evening at Pritchett Field. The Bears (0-4-1) had a lot of opportunities but the Bearkats (2-2-1) were able to minimize the damage.

Even though Baylor was dominating the first few minutes of the first half, the Bearkats put themselves on the board first. On a free kick, the ball got loose and SHSU's Mariah Titus was able to chip it over BU keeper Sara Martinson. However, the Bears kept on attacking and were able to tie the score before the half. Off a rebound, Ashanti Carey was able to find net via a pass by Marissa Sullivan for the equalizer that stood as the game's last goal.

During the second half Baylor kept the ball on Sam Houston's side of the field. BU took 10 shots in its attempt to score, but was unable to find the back of the net.

In the first overtime, Baylor put two balls on the post bar in less than five minutes. In second overtime, Sarah King had a header that merely missed the back of the net.

*Baylor led Sam Houston in shots on goal (9-2), corner kicks (9-2) and shots (25-4).

*Freshman Ashanti Carey scored her first collegiate goal on an assist by Marissa Sullivan.

*For the third time in five games Baylor played an overtime match this season.
