Jan. 12, 2016 WACO, Texas - The Baylor Cub Tennis Program will be available to children age 11 and under to learn basic tennis skills from Baylor players and staff at all home matches during the spring season.
"The Baylor Cub Tennis program has been a very successful addition to our home events over the past two years," head coach Joey Scrivano said. "Baylor fans and families have a great opportunity to interact with each other, while their kids get to be active and have fun learning a sport that they can play for a lifetime."
As was the case last season, the clinics will be held one hour prior to every home match in the spring dual-match season, starting with Thursday's University of Texas Rio Grande Valley match.
"Our goal with this program is to provide a consistent opportunity for kids in the community to be exposed to the game of tennis and to develop some skills over the course of the program," Scrivano said.
All tennis equipment will be provided, but athletic clothing including tennis shoes are required. All sessions will be at the Hurd Tennis Center, unless weather forces action to the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center.
Children, who attend 10 or more sessions throughout the year, will receive a private lesson with Scrivano. Participants will receive a punch card at their first visit to bring back each session to track their attendance.
Last season, clinics averaged 25 kids per session.
