WACO, Texas - No. 20 Baylor softball (24-6) hosts the Texas Longhorns (19-6) for a pair of highly anticipated weekend contests under the lights at Getterman Stadium, Friday, March 25 at 6:30 p.m., and Saturday, March 26 at 8:00 p.m.
Baylor and Texas will meet for the 43rd time, with Texas carrying the 28-14 advantage heading into the weekend's games.
In 2015, Baylor fell in the season series to the Longhorns, 2-1.
In Baylor's lone victory, Heather Stearns pitched a complete game, one-hit gem in Waco, striking out six.
In the May 9 game in Austin, the Lady Bears led nearly the whole way, until a three-run sixth inning for UT stole the 5-3 victory.
In the series rubbermatch, five runs allowed by Stearns were more than enough to compliment the shutout by Erica Wright.
Most recently, Texas took the week off following a trip to Hawaii, just a week after Baylor made its own trip to the islands.
The Longhorns went 3-2, defeating Hawaii twice and Iowa once, while dropping a game to each of those schools.
Texas has only competed in five true road games this season, going 3-2 in those contests.
For Baylor, the Lady Bears split a Tuesday doubleheader with Cleveland State at home, before trekking to San Antonio for a midweek nailbiter with UTSA.
BU came away with the 6-5 victory, aided by a three-RBI day for Sarah Smith.
A pitch-by-committee day in the circle gave Kendall Potts her ninth win and Heather Stearns her fourth save of the season.
The weekend series marks the first televised games of the season for Baylor, with Friday night's game being carried by FOX Sports Southwest and Saturday's game pegged for a national audience on ESPN2.
For FOX, Dave Barnett and Tracy Warren will provide commentary, with ESPN's Adam Amin and Amanda Scarborough handling the Saturday matchup.
The weekend series, and all home games this season, will be broadcast live with audio on BaylorBears.com/allaccess. Dan Ingham will handle play-by-play, with former Lady Bear Kaitlyn Thumann offering color commentary.
