THE RUNDOWN
MANHATTAN, Kan. ÃÆ'Æ'à € ' ¢ÃƒÆ'Æ' ¢' ¬" Baylor soccer (9-3-2, 3-2-1 Big 12) dominated in shots and completely shut down the Kansas State (6-7-1, 1-4-0 Big 12) attack, taking a 1-0 win on Friday night at K-State Soccer Stadium.

The Bears controlled the pace of the match, taking advantages in shots (25-6), shots on goal (6-4), and corners (6-5).

BU took the first half lead, cracking through in the 31st minute. Ariel Leach served in a perfect touch for Julie James, with James punching in the game-winner.

After only taking one shot in the first half, the Wildcats had their best chance of the match in the closing minutes of the second period, when K-State was awarded a penalty kick on a Baylor hand ball in the box in the 83rd minute.

BU goalkeeper Jennifer Wandt came up with the biggest play of the match, measuring up the KSU attempt and punching it away for a save on a dive to her right to protect the shutout and crush the best attempt to tie for the Wildcats.

Wandt collected her seventh solo shutout of the season, continuing to lead the Big 12 in goals-against average and earning her standing as one of the top keepers in the country.
